Made reservations for dinner Wed. Feb.26, on line. No acknowledgement, so called &
connected. Arrived at 7:05 P.M. only about 8 customers there. Waiter tried to help as we wanted to know if they could broil Black Drum instead of blackening it; answer no.Waiter could not answer basic questions; he was only one there.
We ordered Redfish broiled, & wedge salad before. Salad came promptly but very small amount of Blue Cheese dressing. My Redfish still had scales on i; but was very tasty otherwise.I have never had fish served in a restaurant with fish scales still on it. We were disappointed in the experience.

We dined here last night since very few places are open on Mondays around here. It was very good. The retro look with brick walls, etc., was neat. The wait staff was a little stressed as they were surprisingly (to them) slammed and even turned some away. It is not huge, but popular. The service was a little slow, but OK. The waitress was able to allow my wife to alter her meal to meet her needs. It is a creole place and I had red snapper over risotto and it was good. We had the char broiled oysters as an app and they were tasty. I am glad we came to town to eat here.

Just went to Sunday brunch at Cotton and it was awesome! We enjoyed the Duck Wraps and Biscuit Beignets for appetizers! The Duck Wraps were amazing and the Beignets were tasty as well, served with cane butter. I enjoyed the brunch buffet which had an array of breakfast/lunch options as well as an omelet station. I chose the short ribs and mashed potatoes. I also had a taste of the crawfish mac and cheese - didn't love that. The biscuits melted in your mouth and the bread pudding was unbelievable! My friends had the classic benedict which was perfect and the fried chicken and waffles! Service was attentive and perfect. If we find ourselves in Monroe again, we'd definitely come back!

I don’t remember when I last had a more miserable dining experience.
We stopped for a late lunch while passing through town. It took 50 minutes to be seated, longer than the 30-40 minute estimate, despite the restaurant being 2/3 full at most.
It took another 10 minutes for a server to take our drink order. We went ahead and ordered an appetizer and meals at the same time as the drinks to try to get back on track. The biscuit appetizer never arrived. The sandwich, salad, and fish arrived after another 30-40 minute wait. The salad and sandwich were fine. The creole catfiah was overcooked and the grits were oversalted.
On top of the poor service and mediocre food, the atmosphere was ruined by a large, drunk, disruptive group of women who the management were apparently unable or unwilling to deal with appropriately. They were loud, rude, and vulgar. We finished and left as quickly as possible, two hours after walking in.
I will never return to this place and would advise everyone else to steer clear as well.

The interior and the decor is very nice. It's warm and inviting. Staff seemed a little confused as to their tasks, tables, and duties. Did not observe an apparent manager. Duck wrap appetizer was average; tasted like it had been under a warmer too long. Yardbird Sandwich was a basic crispy friend chicken sandwich that was good. Wasn't great or unusual. "Duck Fat fries where unimpressive, cool and soggy; and the portion was smaller than it should have been. Deviled Egg and biscuit appetizers were excellent. I wondered why we were always looking for our waitress to refill our water glasses, bring us some napkins, etc. My wondering ceased when I saw 20% mandatory gratuity. She knew she would receive at least 20% of our check!!

Jess T was phenomenal ! The roast beef poboy was amazing. We ordered the pan seared catfish and the crawfish pasta with fried crawfish on top. Go for those duck fat fries! We ordered the appetizer, and they gave us four delicious sauces to dip them in. We finished it with the chocolate chip cookie.
Looking forward to returning !

The waiter told us the special and when I asked how much the waiter said $25. When the bill arrived I was charged the steak plus an additional $25. There were other people in the group who also asked and were told $25 for the special only to find out it was actually over $60. None of us would have ever paid that much!
It came to $100 for one person to have dinner on a week night because of the dishonest waiter. He should have quoted the actual price of the meal. Quite a shock! One meal with a glass of wine and the 20% service charge is ridiculous and the meal was not worth that!
To make it worse I then called the next day and the new manager listed to my concerns. He said he would see how to handle it and had to ask and assured me he would call me back. It’s been over a week and I have heard nothing.
I was with 8 church friends and we go to dinner every month. We will never come back to Cotton. As a whole we agreed it was handled poorly, overpriced and felt like we were taken advantage of. Very disappointed in the whole experience.

Excellent restaurant to enjoy a meal and drinks and be able to carry on a conversation. We started off with a salad (which a couple can share and have plenty) we followed with Crawfish Two Ways over fettuccine and Duck Wraps. Food was outstanding and service was as well. Definitely worth going for a great experience.

We went to Cotton last Saturday night while in Monroe for the Dixie League Boys World Series. The waitress gave us a brief history of the building, pointing out the highlights of one of the oldest buildings in Monroe.
The specialty cocktails were very interesting. I ordered a cocktail called "The Ole Smokey." When brought to the table, it is infused with smoke from a fire set on top of the glass. Awsome presentation, and the drink was delicious. My main course was the Crawfish Two Ways. Best dinner I have had in years. And I almost forgot to mention the biscuits. The kind that almost melts in your mouth.
My only regret was there was no room for dessert.
I highly recommend Cotton when you get to Monroe.

Visited Planter’s on a Saturday morning for brunch. It wasn’t busy and I don’t mind waiting for my food for 30 minutes if it’s worth it. The best part of our meal was the cold duck fat fries. Super disappointed. Our food was very bland and almost flavorless. 2 stars because our server was great!

The restaurant has a very rustic feel to it and like the mason jars as drinking glasses. You would normally need to make a reservation depending on what time you go it is known to be very busy. We tried the duck wraps and they had alil spice to them but they were delicious. For the main course my husband has the pork chop with red beans and rice. His main complaint was that there was no bread but he really enjoyed it. I tried the crawfish pasta and let’s just say there was nothing left because it was that good. Happy that we finally tried it and will recommend to other people.

We were on 2nd day of a 1200+ mile road trip from SC to Texas and rolled into Monroe, LA around 3pm. We were hungry so searched online for a place to eat. Cotton looked to be a good choice. It was!
Husband ordered the double meat burger with a side of duck fat fries. I got the chicken and waffles. Both were delicious.
Duck fat sounded a bit off-putting to me, but those were some of the best French fries I have ever tasted. Husband heartily approved of the burger which was high praise from him. The chicken and waffles were so tasty. They came with flavored butter, fresh strawberries, and cane syrup.
We definitely recommend Cotton.

We had a wonderful meal in this beautiful restaurant located in a historic building on the Ouachita River. The food was unique and well prepared. We loved the biscuits and cane syrup butter. My husband had the venison schnitzel and I had the strawberry salad with grilled chicken. We finished with a delta fried pie. Our server was friendly and attentive.

I was here for a rehearsal dinner with about 50-60 people. They should have had 3 people working the room, but only had two. Also they should have had water on the tables instead of having to request it and have constant refill requests. The food was really good, but mine was cold. I understand that timing is hard with a group, but I was disappointed.

I have been here a few times while traveling and they have some exceptional menu items. It seems really strange to give high praise to deviled eggs, but if you have not had them, you need to get them. if you have had them, then you know what I’m talking about. The pork chops and red beans were very delicious and a very generous in size. I went here two nights in a row, because I had so many things on the menu I wanted to try. The next time I go back to the area, I will be stopping again. There are some expensive items, but there are several things that are very reasonably priced.
