Take out only, best to order ahead. Got the Fried Rice and Egg Roll. Fried rice was tasty, but a bit dry. Needed some more oil or water to soften the rice . Egg Roll (only one per order) was also tasty. Prices are reasonable. Turn around time was excellent.

We are in town for the weekend and after a long day on the town we decided that we just wanted to stay in our hotel room for dinner. After checking TripAdvisor, we decided on Chinese food and narrowed it down to the Hot Wok. I found there website a little challenging to navigate the menu; however, was able to use their online ordering. Once the order was complete, it stated the food would be ready in 30 min. While this was a little longer than my regular place back home, it was an acceptable time frame for carry out. I arrived at the designated time and found a number of people waiting for their orders, and mine was complete. The food was good and the portion size was more than enough for my family. I recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for some good carry out Chinese.

There are surprisingly few places to get decent Chinese takeout in Metro New Orleans. Hot Wok is the kind of place you might find in a big city, replete with photos of the dishes above the counter, offering all the Chinese-American takeout standards, some better than others.
For quick, cheap Chinese takeout, it is decent. We've been three times in the past year or so, and sampled a few things. We thought the fried rice was very good two out of three times. My sister really liked the Moo Goo Gai Pan. We weren't crazy about the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, but my husband thought the Boneless Chicken was "better than ok" but far from the best he's ever had. Both the wonton and the hot and sour soups were pretty good, but the egg rolls were, as they are everywhere else, mediocre. (Does anyone make good egg rolls anymore???)
While I wouldn't go out of my way looking for Hot Wok, if you're looking to grab something quick to take home, this can do the trick.

Hot Wok is your typical Chinese Restaurant featuring a variety of dishes. If you are looking for a good Chinese meal to pick up and bring home then Hot Wok is the place to go. Portions are huge so two or three dishes can easily feed a family of 4 to 6. The fried rice is very good and plentiful. Egg Rolls are a nice size and delicious. Wonton soup very good. They also do lunch portions for a very reasonable price. The Hot Wok only has a table or two so it is best to order and pick up.

Cheap and adequate. I get the shrimp and vegetable dish, sauce on the side with brown rice and am happy to eat this and stick to my diet. BF gets General Tso and is happy too.

When I first spotted Hot Wok, it reminded me of the type of Chinese take-out restaurants you would find in New York and automatically peaked my interest. After passing it quite a few times, I finally had the urge for wings and fried rice and went inside to get my American Chinese on.
The place itself has no ambiance. It's just a hole-in-the-wall, average-looking take-out restaurant where you should never take a date to sit down and eat. Just as I had expected, the place was run by New York transplants who had taken ownership of the restaurant about a year ago.
This is a pretty good place, and even ordering Buffalo Wings off of the "American food" section I was satisfied. It was obviously not the typical buffalo flavor but was good sized wings with a proportionate amount of sauce that had a nice flavor to it.
I also ordered a pint of Pork Fried Rice. It could have easily been a tasteless, greasy, soggy mess but it was really great rice. It tasted fresh not microwaved.
I went in also wanting to get an order of Fried Crab Stick but they no longer sell them so I settled with the Fried Crabmeat Cheese Wontons instead. They were just okay. I wish the wontons were a little crispier and that you could actually taste the crabmeat in the stuffing and not just cheese.
Regardless, prices are really good and I enjoyed the rice, so I will be back again when I'm craving Chinese!
