The Verandah is a wonderful place to spend the afternoon for a relaxing lunch and worth the visit in good weather if just for that. In the past Rip's food and Martini's were excellent. Today not so. Today we had soft shell crabs, and catfish with oysters for lunch. The salad, which accompanied the meal was excellent, as were the... More

So we reserved a table on the deck and was very happy to have a nice table with a view of the deck. Our waiter normally works behind the bar but they were short handed so he served us. He was excellent! We ordered drinks and they were good. Everyone ordered something diffent except for me and my daughter in... More

Had my first taste ever of Key Lime Pie here! That alone made the meal a very memorable one. Visiting from the UK we were keen to try local dishes, and really enjoyed the crab and brie soup, and the turtle soup, followed by fried chicken with a very large tasty salad. Getting back to the key lime pie -... More

Stopped here for a leisurely lunch - solo. Just researched it on Trip Advisor. When I got there, the amount of stairs I climbed to the upper level entrance was my first indication this was a unique place (although there is an elevator). I hit the end of the lunch hour, so it wasn't crowded. I chose to eat outside... More

This restaurant offers a beautiful view of Lake Pontchartrain, sitting just across the street from the lake in the quaint, picturesque town of Mandeville. The view from the porch of the raised restaurant allows for unobstructed views of the lake and the surrounding area. You may choose to dine there (maybe a little warm for the summer) or inside in... Fried oysters are the best! Large, perfectly fried oysters, served with a salad and vegetable. Take the whole family for a delightful, moderately-priced meal. Lots of entrees for children. Great service. Staff goes out of their way to accommodate everyone. Sit on the porch with a gentle wind blowing off of Lake Ponchatrain. Think you died and went to heaven.

At Rip's you can have a great meal while watching the sun set on Lake Pontchartrain or watch the boats sail by or watch the people enjoying the lakefront. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes with Shrimp Remoulade as an appetizer. As for the entre's - lots of choices - redfish, pompano, catfish, red snapper, mahi, trout, shrimp, oysters -... Crossed the lake as an excuse to try out our new Honda CR-V EXL. The first and most obvious thing about Rips Restaurant is the wonderful view of the lake and causeway. After the flooding rains of last two days it was suddenly sunny, but with a cool breeze, in August! An opening Manhattan was watery in the way they... More

Great atmosphere. Less than friendly service. Decent food, overpriced. 18.99 for an oyster poboy without a side. Sorry, that's just ridiculous. Much better places in the area for less money. Not my first visit, but may beyond last😕

We love sitting out on the deck. During the summer it is so hot and miserable to sit outside, so we were looking forward to evening showers to cool things off so we could enjoy dinner outside on their deck. Today, We arrived around 5:00 and it was cloudy but not currently raining. We asked for the deck and the... More
