A lovely village pub that feels quaint and has a nice relaxed local vibe. The staff were friendly and I appreciated the extra efforts made when I mentioned I was a coeliac. It was nice for the waitress to take the time and sit down next to me, talking through what modifications they could make. The food was delicious and... More

A friend arranged for 12 of us to have lunch here prior to a visit to a local garden. The pub is set on the side of the road on the approach to the attractive village of Upton Grey. Inside, the bar addresses you as you enter with comfy chairs, and off to the left is the restaurant area. We... More

12 tennis pals had lunch here before a visit to The Manor House garden nearby. We chose 3 fish ( £20each) and 2 meat / cheese (£17.50 each ) sharing platters so that we could have a quick lunch. They were absolutely delicious and everyone agreed they were the perfect choice. The baked whole cheese on the meat platter was... More

We had pre-booked the end of our 39 mile run through country lanes and arrived at this humble country pub. We had a large area to ourselves and as we had all ordered our meals before hand we sat and chatted about the run and various other things. The food arrived, some people had starters, so those who didn't waited... More

Sure, there are prettier and more atmospheric 'olde worlde' pubs to be found across rural Hampshire, but the Hoddington Arms can't be faulted for its excellent food, matched by polite, attentive service. I would certainly recommend strongly.

On way to Upton Gray Manor gardens and the pub was mentioned on the website. Pleased we had lunch whilst rain stopped. calamari and the ham (pulled) duck egg and chips were both superb. Friendly staff. Fudge with coffee also delicious.

We were looking for a pub in the Basingstoke area for Fathers Day lunch and found The Hoddington Arms on the internet. Its in a beautiful English village, with thatched cottages and rose gardens with meadows and trees around. The initial welcome was very warm. When I dithered about which bitter to try I was offered a taste to help... More

We were made very welcome from the minute we were invited inside, including our Working Coker Spaniel, on the last Bank Holiday Monday having just completed a long walk from Mapledurwell through stunning Hampshire countryside. We had known the Pub from earlier days but what a transformation and the ever smiling staff could not have been more helpful. Thoroughly enjoyed... More

Tucked away in a pretty little Hampshire village this pub has surprisingly good food. There's a good choice from light lunchtime snacks and sandwiches to a full blown meal that's delicious and satisfying. Try the mixed fish sharing platter for two or three people , it's excellent. The wines are great too with some good choices from Berry Bros and... More

First visit to the Hodd and we weren't disappointed. I'm coeliac so often limited in my choice of food at restaurants but not at the Hodd. The chef was happy to adapt anything where possible. Service was good, the staff friendly and the food was delicious. I'd highly recommend and will definitely be going back.
