This is one those awesome local places that's a must visit. The poboy's are very good. The interior tells a story. It's a place where you and some good friends want to stretch lunch into happy hour.

On a recommendation from a relative, we stopped at the Rivershack for lunch and like the name suggests, it looks like a shack from the road and is located on the Mississippi River levee. Friday lunch was crowded, but we found an empty table they cleaned promptly. The Menu is a two-sided sheet and simple - mainly burgers. Service was... More

This was recommended to me by a friend. Great atmosphere with lots of history in the walls. There were 5-6 tv's to enjoy the MLB Allstar game or NBA summer league. We ordered the chef salad and Caesar salad with grilled chicken. The chef salad was huge, fresh, and delicious. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken tasted like fish. I... More

We were looking for a local restaurant with good seafood. The atmosphere and food was everything we had hoped. Even the had its own history, it use to be "The Colored Bar" in Jefferson, La. The memorabilia was so fun to read, this was certainly a great experience for our family.

Really enjoyed our visit. I got "The Usual Suspects" sandwich, and it was great. Loaded with top quality meats. The other 2 got the burgers and were very good also.Beer was cold and service was fine. I'll be back when I'm in the area. I love the old vibe of this really cool place.

The food was delicious and hot! We ordered the seafood platter-enough for two! The beer tap wasn't working and they did not offer to substitute for the taps that weren't available.

I had read about the Rivershack, watched the episode on Diner Drive-Ins and Dives and thus wanted to try it out. I am a big fan of local dives with good food, service and ambiance, but sadly, the Rivershack had none of the above. As soon as we walked in we were hit by blaring music. Not jazz, blues or... More

A friend from the UK had heard about Rivershack and wanted to eat there while in New Orleans. Since I had never been (or heard of it) I was looking forward to trying something new. With its unique look, it was an easy find on River Road. Inside was very dark and it took a moment to adjust after coming... More
