We stopped here for a Sunday afternoon lunch...the waitress, Natalie? was very business like, and did not make us feel overly welcome. I was charged for a very small metal, 1 oz container of white cheese dip to put on my meal...and the chicken was...very rubbery, and hardly tasted like chicken! I can't recommend the Pollo Loco, for two reasons, portion size and quality...we won't be visiting this restaurant again...we travel the Hispanic region in and out of the U.S. often, so we know what a "normal" restaurant should serve portion wise, and how they treat their customers...this was not the best experience...sorry...and the server said, "yes, I speak Spanish, but then would ignore doing so like she was ashamed of the language...first time this has ever happened in an "authentic" Mexican restaurant...sad...More
Carreta's Grill in Harahan serves good Mexican food. They have a good variety of options in which to choose from.
Carreta's if my Daughter's favorite Mexican Restaurant.
We ate there 10 days ago with family and friends. Everyone ordered different dishes and all enjoyed what...they ordered.
They do have off-street parking on two sides of their building and can be easily noticed from the street.
If you're in the area and like Mexican, stop by and enjoy!!More
Arrived one hour before closing. We were seated immediately and our food came out within 10 minutes after ordering. It had been a rainy humid day and unfortunately, the tacos told the story! The taco shells were not crispy at all.... actually they were stake...and chewy to be more exact! THe food was also luke warm and bland! We were extremely disappointed! Probably will never go back to that location! :(More
Wow Carreta's, I'm actually kind of impressed.
We stopped into Carreta's on a Saturday for lunch and the crowd was pretty thin. The waitress took our drink order immediately and within just a few minutes of ordering our food (about 10 minutes) we had it...in front of us. My first thought was, "Uh oh, we have a reheat situation on our hands.", but it wasn't reheated at all (at least from what I could tell.).
I decided to do the "create your own" with the shredded chicken quesadilla and the shredded chicken flautas (two per order). For a grand total of 8.20, this is probably one of the best lunch deals in the city. The quesadilla was perfect- plenty of cheese mixed in with the juicy chicken and seasoned perfectly. The flautas were out of this world. They were hot and fresh and I really enjoyed them and the shell had just enough crunch to it. The combination of both the quesadilla and the flautas made for the perfect lunch.
I would absolutely return and try more of what Carreta's has on the menu. I am eager to try their burrito plate!More
I had the dinner with beef and cheese enchiladas. It came with beans and rice. Every item was very good. I especially like the fresh salsa and chips to start out the meal. The service was wonderful. Whenever I am in the mood for Mexican...cuisine I will be going to Carreta's Grill.More
Carreta's Grill opened in Harahan in 2015 in a location that has been the home to quite a few restaurants. It is part of a local chain with locations in Metairie and the Northshore. It is an average Tex Mex restaurant. The food is ok...but not extraordinary. The entrance to the restaurant is strange as it is in the rear away from Hickory Avenue. I don't think I will come back very often.More
This review is about this location but the food as I remember is applicable to all the locations. The place has a front door on a main street but you can’t get in through there. You have to go to the back door to get...in. What’s worse is when you ready to leave through the back door it’s locked. Someone has to unlock it. I complained to the manager when I got there about having to walk around to the back door as a handicapped parker and all she could tell me is that there are signs saying come to the back door. Another killer is the happy hour. Which should be better named as the UN-happy hour. Only drink for happy hour is if you like Margaritas. Trust me, there are plenty much better Mexican food places than this that you can enter and leave like a normal restaurant. I got the fajitas --Nothing to brag about, trust me.More
My wife and I ate at this restaurant on a Friday night. It was during Lent, so it was crowded but not full, even though they offered some seafood items for Lent. The food was very tasty and we enjoyed it. The staff is very...cheerful and attentive. We enjoyed our dinner and recommend it highly.More
