Nice Southern and Italian style restaurant; got live music too and the pianist is very good! Only thing is a bit noisy.

Tony Mandina's is at the edge of a neighborhood, just off of U.S. Hwy. 90 Bus. (West Bank Expressway). The exterior is simple, but the interior is beautiful, with lots of dim lighting, candles, and woodwork. The staff are attentive & excellent. There is a...fancy & attractive full bar. I ordered the lunch special Spaghetti and Pasta, which was delicious, filling, and a great value at only $8.00. Also, the bread with butter was great! I would certainly return and recommend. RJTMore

Mandina's claim to fame is their tomato sauce, which you can purchase in a jar. However, they seem to think that it will improve any dish. The menu here is outdated Italian and heavy on fried veal and overcooked angel hair pasta. We had a...fried calamari app - the pieces were all stuck together. Other apps were fried cheese and fried eggplant. Both were heavy on the breading. The brociolone was tasteless and seemed short on beef. While the servers are friendly and well meaning, they need more training in customer service. We brought in a birthday cake for the group. When the time came for the cake, it was delivered to the table in the box and unceremoniously placed on the table. The plates were dropped the same way with no dessert forks. It was up to us to take the cake out of the box and then wer had to ask for a knife to cut the cake. All together, it was not a memorable experience.More

Their red sauce is delicious but that's where it ends for me. I had the Bracioline . The meat in the roll was tender and good but the stuffing tasted pasty and did not contain the ingredients usually found in this dish. It was the...worst Bracioline I've ever eaten. The typically wonderful Italian meal dishes usually sauteed lightly are overly fried. Generally you can count on an Italian restaurant to have great Calamari not so here it may have been bought from a supplier doubt it was made in house. I looked around our table there were 8 of us and found only the Chicken Parmesan looked good. One of us quietly sent her entree back. Service is friendly but more lip service than service. Had to ask for bread, wine glasses were removed before we could order wine had to stop server from removing my glass so. I could order a glass of Pinot Noir which was good. We were able to bring in a birthday cake which most places are pretty accustom to customers doing. The plates were put on the table with no utensils and no knife to cut it with. A little later we were told the knife was being used in a private room and not available. Had to ask if he could bring me any type of kitchen knife. This was a far cry from how most local restaurants handle brought in birthday cakes. Again friendly but forgetful staff. The best part about dinner was the outside greeter he was both friendly and competent.More

I judge Italian food on their sauce, which was very good. This restaurant and restrooms were clean, servers are well trained and helpful. The decor is comfortable also. I had a delicious Italian veal parmigiana. My husband had a tasty Italian meatloaf. The lunch price...was reasonable. The hours are a bit restrictive during the week, so make sure to check prior to going there. I highly recommend this restaurant!More

We love Tony Mandina’s! We ate here for our wedding anniversary this April and actually got engaged here in 2016. The staff is welcoming and service was superb! The spaghetti and meatballs are to die for! The chicken Lindsey grace is my husband’s favorite dish!...We highly recommend this place for a fancy and romantic date night that won’t break the bank!More

Tony Mandinas is such a nice place with delicious food. I have a picky 2 year old who sometimes goes a few days just picking at things and not really eating much. When that happens I take him to Tony Mandinas and I swear the...kid eats an entire plate of Angel-hair with Alfredo. EVERY TIME. He truly loves it and so do I. The servers are so sweet, they are very personable people. Saturday nights have a piano player which really puts a perfect mood on a gorgeous restaurant. We go every week, and we will keep going every week.More

We first discovered Tony Mandina's shortly after they opened in 1983. At that time it was a very small place that was only opened for lunch Tue-Fri. We no longer live in the area, but return to New Orleans at least once a year, and...we NEVER miss a chance to have a meal here. This is a rare family run business that is now being run by the second generation, but it still has all the charm and comfort of the original lunch spot. We took Mom there for Mother's Day this past Sunday and had a great visit. From the greeting by Tony and Grace when you walk in the door, to the Bread Pudding at the end of the meal, everything was wonderful. Although the Seafood Manicotti is my favorite dish, everything is good. The menu has a Sicilian bias, and is based around family recipes, from the homemade dinner rolls to the wonderful Red Gravy, that is so popular that bottles of it are now available on Amazon! The decor has come a long way from the original lunch spot, but the warmth and hospitality is still the same. Perhaps the best recommendation is that everyone seem to be having a genuinely great time. Although you expect the patrons to enjoy themselves, the entire staff is also having fun, and that is the mark of a special place.More
