Our family of five enjoyed dinner at Grapevine Cafe. The food was good and the portions were very large. My husband had ordered an entree with cornbread and catfish and was looking forward to it, but the cornbread tasted like cardboard - almost as if an ingredient was missing. Having said that, my redfish entree was enormous and quite good.... More

This is the best spot to eat in Donaldsonville. Granted, there are only like three restaurants there. But this one is actually good. They have good gumbo and grilled Ahi Tuna, but honestly, I've never had anything bad from here. Grilled fish, crabcake pasta, its all good. Staff is usually very attentive, although the place can be very busy at... More

This is a quaint little restaurant in Historic Downtown Donaldsonville. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. Our appetizer was fried green tomatoes topped with crab meat. There were four tomato slices. They were served steaming hot with an amazing homemade remoulade sauce. Two of us split an entrée. It came with a large salad (served in two bowls.) We... More

Had a chance to visit here on a weeknight while on a rest and relaxation overnight trip. Even though it was a weeknight, the place had quite a few customers so I knew I was in for a good treat. I had the gumbo bowl and my dining companion had the fried shrimp. The service was excellent and the food... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant for my birthday. He had heard some really good things about it. I had read some not so good things on this website. I was hesitant but decided to agree to give it a try. Neither one of us had eaten here so it was first time for both of us. I must... More

Each time I've visited this restaurant I have eaten way too much to eat and have been blown away by the quality of the Cajun food. Quiet little town of Donaldsonville always has a place or two with great food. This one surely has something going on to talk about. For desert don't forget to try the white chocolate bread... More

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch with a group of five. The restaurant has a nice and cozy feeling inside an old building with authentically distressed brick walls. The guitar playing musician added a great element to the overall dining atmosphere, although it did make it a little noisy and difficult to have a conversation inside the restaurant. However, we were... More

Creative dishes and excellent flavors. This little town gem is really good. Only two things I'd ask management to look at. Service is slow and it seems maybe staffing is the issue. Or training might need improvement. A waiter took only some of our drink order skipping some and coming back which is odd. We also waited a long time... More

Ate here 3 times. Sunday brunch is great. Breakfast potato dish is artistry. Creole presented in an original and unique way. Highly recommended.

My wife was born in New Orleans and we have been coming down to the city for years for the three Fs - Family, Friends, and Food. We usually eat at two or 3 of the city's best restaurants and are well pleased. This year on our way to some of the plantations we stopped in Donaldsonville, about 2 hr.... More
