Traveling to Lake Charles we stopped for breakfast. Found the menu to be quite extensive for an out of the way place. Omelet was fresh, light and came with enough hash browns and toast to feed a small army. Also tried the biscuits and gravy and have to say it sure beats the chain places where the gravy has that... If you find yourself on I-10 between Houston and New Orleans at meal time, seek out the Rice Palace Restaurant in Crowley, Louisiana. Several visits have provided good food, good service, in a clean, family small-town cafe environment. If you are not encumbered with kids, there is also a small, smoky casino and bar/lounge. An associated gas station/convenience store makes... More

We always stop at the rice palace exit 80 when traveling I 10 in la. I always get a take home of a Cajun dish as well to enjoy on down the road. Plenty of room for big rigs and a good fuel stop for the Rv. Beats the pilot and love traps of fuel prices as well. So filler... More

my family and I have been at the rice palace a lot but tonight it was different . A couple of minutes after we got our my dad saw a HUGE cockroach run across the floor and craw on one of the people at the table on the side of us. They need to look into the roach problem.

I didn't like my feet sticking to the floor, or the tables with scarcely 12" clearance. I enjoyed the company we were with.

Went to check it against Frog City cafe as suggested by another reviewer. Pretty similar but I prefer Rice Palace; cleaner, quieter, better/faster service tho not as friendly wait person. RP had better selection and good salad bar but FC had better seafood gumbo. I'll happily go back to either place!

Passing through the area, I got the envie for dessert. The Rice Palace was a pleasant surprise - 3 kinds of pie (including bourbon pecan) and 4 kinds of cake (including Red Velvet cheesecake), all at 4 in the afternoon. The three girls working were all super-friendly and helpful. Looked over the menu and it looks inviting. We'll be back... More
