Went to the Abita brewing tour and after we ask for a really good bbq and they recommend us Sweet Daddy’s. We were not disappointed. The brisket and the ribs were amazing. The pecan pie was the best choice to finish a great day. I’m definitely going back.

You guys, I’m from Oklahoma. I am all about BQQ. Smoked, smothered, sexy BBQ. When I moved to Louisiana I was heartbroken, I have been spoiled with fresh beef and pig. My fiancé and I goodled this place on a whim and decided to try it. BEST DECISION EVER!! Do yourself a favor and get the ribs or pulled pork, a root beer in a glass bottle, and ENJOY!! 10 stars!! I only have an after picture I’m sorry, gonna go slip into a food coma now!

I tried the brisket and ribs here. Upon entering I noticed the smell of smokiness in the air which got my mouth watering. I was seriously disappointed that upon tasting the meats there was no smoky taste. They were both very tender and well seasoned. But smoke flavor was none whatsoever. There was also no smoke ring in the meat to indicate a long slow smoking process. This barbque was undoubtedly prepared by baking it in an oven. Good barbque is not something that you can fake. No smoke ring = no barbque. Also, the sides were pretty sorry too. Save your money.

After a long day at hospital was looking to get away for a good meal before going back. Was very disappointed. I tried the brisket sandwich which I found fatty and not much flavor. Wife had the pulled pork and said was ok. Had 2 grandkids with us one had 1/4 chicken the other 1/2 rack of ribs. One with chicken liked it but brother with ribs only ate off one rib. Didn't care for them at all but liked his Mac and Cheese. We ordered 1 lb of sausage to go around the table and I have to say was the best meat on the table.

We stopped by Sweet Daddy's for the first time. Our meals were on the good side of acceptable. I wish I could give them a 3.5. The pulled pork had a very good flavor but was a little on the tough side. The brisket was sliced a little too thick to be tender and was slightly lacking in flavor. The sweet potato fries looked and tasted like they came out of a bag. The menu offers corn fritters but what they serve is actually just the same old frozen fried corn nuggets you can get anywhere. The gumbo wasn't even lukewarm. It was stone cold. I was hoping for Austin or Memphis and got Cleveland.

Found this delicious place by accident when we were deciding what we wanted to eat. Great variety of perfectly cooked bbq items with the usual sides. Save room for dessert. I took about half of my lunch home so that I could enjoy a slice of their scrumptious pecan pie!!!! So worth it!!! Pleasant staff-- friendly and informative.

I saw Sweet Daddy's as I was driving through Covington. I saw a couple of police cars there so I figured it had to be good food. I was right, it was.
I had the brisket sandwich and corn on the cob and gumbo.
The price was inexpensive and the food was great.

Absolutely delicious BBQ! I believe that their sides can stand alone. Can't get enough of the potato salad, mac 'n cheese and green beans.

My friend and I went for Saturday night supper and I had pulled pork, macaroni, and green beans. The pulled pork was tender, moist, and smoky. The house sauces are all delicious (I’m partial to the smoky and the tangy Carolina sauce). So many places try to hide dry, flavorless meat with syrupy commercial sauces. Not so here. My friend got perfectly smoked, juicy brisket with fresh house-made slaw (not the sickly sweet kind passed off at so many places) and very crispy sweet potato fries. I didn’t get any homemade Derby pie but it looked very tempting.

The pulled pork sandwich is excellent, and with a very generous portion of meat. The meat is lean, succulent, and smokey. All side dishes are very good, but I recommend the jambalaya and baked beans. Prices are reasonable, and you won't find better pulled pork in Covington.

As I write this, Sweet Daddy’s is ranked #47 in Covington on TA, and in my opinion this rating is way too low. We’ve eaten in a LOT of the restaurants in Covington, and there is no way 46 of them are better than this place. My family and I ate here twice on a recent visit to Covington and we thought this was one of the best barbeque places we’ve found anywhere. The pulled pork, the pork ribs and brisket, the sauces, the fried okra and the mac and cheese were all excellent. My wife said it was the best pulled pork sandwich she’s ever had. They have a regular sauce which we really liked, a smoky sauce which I also liked and a hot and spicy sauce we did not try. They don’t serve beer because due to the way the laws work in Louisiana, they can’t partner with Abita Brewery to cater if they have a liquor license, and the owner told me he could not afford to give up his catering business. Too bad, but still this place is just excellent. It wasn’t crowded at the dinner hour on a weeknight during our first visit; the second time was on a weekend during the day and they were doing quite a carry out business, but the service was still very good.

Great food with good pricing. They also cater! Friday fried catfish is fantastic, along with the corn fritters.

Got brisket and pulled pork. Both were excellent , no fat and really taste. The sides were great and it was a lot of food and the price was really reasonable.
