We arrived for a Sunday drink. The in and out of the building was clear and easy to understand from a covid point of view and planty of hand san . We walked in wearing face masks and as the weather was sunny thought we...would have a drink outside. We were told by the young lady on ' Front of house ' duties that we would have to scan a QR code on a table outside and then order drinks from an AP. She described it as similar to on line shopping. Off we went outside and found a table in the sun and set about ordering some drinks. After faffing around on the Ap we had some drinks coming. I asked the young lady delivering the drnks if we required additional drinks, would be more straight forward and the Ap have logged a previous order etc, as other large establishments do. I was told 'no , you need to go through the process again and put all your card details in again. However if you sit inside you get table service. ( lesson to be learned there!!) Anyway other locals turned up, drinks were bought out to them and they paid on the normal chip and pin type payment machine. This pub really does need to get its act together and stick to one set of rules a for all.More

Roast dinner £17 !! Beef was nice , lamb was nice !! That’s it !! Veg was rubbish , cauliflower cheese was dry ,and no cheese or sauce . Roast potatoes were terrible , parsnips were ok . It was a £12 roast at best...!!!!!!!not a massive selection of beer . Gone downhill massively since we last visited , was on whole not worth the money !!!! Though George our waiter was brilliant such a nice person . Would we go back , prob not !! What a Shame .More

Such friendly, helpful staff, covid safe, super food. So pleased with our choice of halfway pub to meet up this morning for coffee and lunch. Fortunately the wonderful weather enabled us to sit outside on this occasion, but we did notice the tables indoors are...a safe distance apart to safely return on another occasion. Glorious Sunday sun in the garden at this iconic and lovely Pub.All co vid stuff excellent and we'll planned out. Short staffed on the day as apparently two staff down..rendered a long wait between courses and service,however the location and weather more than made up...for it ..by way of a much appreciated gesture we were offered a free round of drinks which was most kind and unexpected! Service overall was nice, welcoming and the staff were working hard and up against a busy service.The food( Sunday roast) was a delight and nice surprise,great yorkies, excellent beef,lovely veg and roasties! Perfect gravy served separate ( essential! )Lovely cauli cheese too...all in all very enjoyable afternoon.Well done and thank you to the lovely front of house ladies and nice guy behind the bar! And to the kitchen of course! Top job on a difficult day!More

Our family of four had a lovely typical pub lunch in the pub garden. Great service and reasonably priced. Good beer and very good covid related regulations. All in all a wonderful meal.

In truth a bit disappointing but these are tough times so will try again another day. Friendly staff, but portions unusually small (and we are not big eaters) and shrivelled. So, just about ok but not great value for the price. Let's hope things brighten...up for all pubs and restaurants soon.More

Dinner booked during eat out to help out. Food was lovely, staff friendly and service was efficient. A few concerns over some current policies and practices but all reassured and explained professionally and in an understanding manner by Sophie. (I assume the Manager) All in...all great value for money for a nice Meal whilst in the area for a few days.More
