Yes, they do have a buffet! Had probably 20 items or so and they served you so sticking with the covid regulations! All the food they had there was very good.

If the food wasn't so good, I wouldn't bother. Met by hostess that gave me 'tude because I couldn't tell her it I had 5 or 6 friends coming for lunch(at 11AM). Then we hadn't finished our first plate from the buffet, when the server was not only taking away plates but giving us our checks and telling us to have a nice day and come back soon. I looked at the clock and saw it was 11:24. And when one of us asked for more Sprite, it was brought to her in a "to go" cup. It them have been busy, I could almost see the need to clear seating but there were empty tables all around. Now maybe, I know why. May have to go somewhere else, and seeing Paul E.'s review, the owner won't care.

It had been a long time since we last ate at Hunan's. Stopped for lunch last week and was not disappointed. Asian buffets seem to be dying out around Baton Rouge, but at least we still have Hunan's. Dishes are fresh and replenished fairly quickly keeping fresh product available for all customers. Really like the chicken on a stick and the General Tso's pork. Fried chicken wings were crisp and good. We definitely will go back anytime we are in that part of town.

My wife and I travel and enjoy good Chinese food. We went to the Hunan on the recommendation from a friend as we have recently relocated to BTR. Our order was for carryout. It was 5:30 PM and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered Char Siu = BBQ pork, Beef and Broccoli, and Hot and Sour Soup. It took approximately 10+ minutes so we assumed our food would be freshly made and I paid just after the hostess took my order. When our food was ready the hostess said they were out of BBQ'd Pork, I will refund your money. She never asked me if we wanted to substitute anything else. When I arrived home and opened the paper bag, the food was neatly packaged and the large and small container of hot and sour soup was wrapped in clear plastic and tied. I had high hopes as I was hopeful it indicated quality. That was not to be. The soups were watery and while nicely spiced it lacked much depth of flavor. The beef and broccoli appeared as if it had been on a steam table as the broccoli was mushy and the beef oddly colored and showed no sign of being stir fried. I did not have my sights set too highly but this was some of the most mediocre Chinese food I have ever eaten. Quite honestly, I have had better in airport food courts. I should have read the reviews before going and not relied on a neighbor's recommendation. Never again.

Dined at night and had to order off of menu due to pandemic. Not an issue, as food quantities are so large that we'll eat two or three meals off of one sitting. Everything was great - egg rolls, shrimp and lobster sauce, shrimp fried rice and braised green beans. Special thanks to Brooke, our server for fantastic service and being so accommodating.

Hot and Sour soup was watery and tasted like cornstarch thickened cheap beef broth with vinegar. Shrimp and beef were of poor quality with about as much chew as mashed potatoes. Nothing looked fresh and the vegetables were limp like they had been held for hours on a steam table. One of the worst food experiences that my family has ever experienced. Gross and unappealing would be a compliment. Stuff from a can is better.

I've dined at Hunan since the old man opened in an old gas station. The food was consistently good. He's passed away and the restaurant has teetered on the edge of quality since the founders demise. I got takeout tonight for me and my wife. Her pepper steak was very gristley and barely edible. I got scallop and prawns. Laughably bad if you weren't hungry. The " scallops" were leathery little plugs making me suspicious of their origin. The prawns were tiny tasteless shrimps. Both types of egg rolls were tasted and remained uneaten. My wife said the pork fried rice wasn't bad. They once had a very good reputation for food and service. If the right person takes charge before it's too late maybe it can return to it's old glory.

Went to Hunan today 08/07/22 at 2:30. Went in to eat the buffet. Went there a couple of years ago and had the same terrible experience. Wanted to give them another chance. So to say the least anothwer terrible experience. Ordered thr buffet with my wife and very little food oin the buffet. We were not told when we arrived that they would not be refilling the food on the buffet. We told our waitress that we wanted the buffet. She said okay and took our drink order. Well what was left on the buffet mostly was cold and lacking any quantities and choices. We asked the waitress if they would be bringing out more food. She went to ask the manager and came back and told us no they would not be preparing anymore food. She did say we could order off of the menu. We went to enjoy the buffet so we could have more choices than a single plate. So my wife did order the twice cook pork so she would have something to eat. I will say that the waitress apolgize numerous times as she could tell our disappointment. To say the least I will not be returning.

It was one of the few places open on Xmas day, and turned out to be quite crowded. As we were driving through, we decided to chance it. The food ranged from tolerable to synthetic (pink sauce?) and they were running out of some dishes. To be fair, they handled the volume of customers reasonably. However, the biggest talking point was that every square inch of every wall was plastered with pictures of anyone with any possibility of being a public figure. The most hilarious was one with of Dick Cheney's back!

Don't bother. Placed an online order that took 1.5 hours. And the screwed up the order. Don't bother calling in an order as the owner answers the phone and can't understand english. He actually handed the phone to another customer in line to take the order. I let him know I was unhappy with service and his response was "too bad go elsehwere". I will!!!!!

I have eaten at this restaurant for 40 years. It has had its ups and downs through that time. It is going through a spectacular revival with a new chef Jan not sure but I think he came from Taiwan to cook for Hunan. He is really cranking out great chinese food here. If you have not been in a while go now before it becomes too hard to get into. I had dinner here and ordered off the menu so I have not tried their lunch buffet since chef Jan has been there. I'll be willing bet it has improved as well.

Though I prefer the actual menu for dinner, the lunch buffet is really good, fresh, and tons of options.

For some reason I hadn't been to Hunan in nearly fifteen years. I met a friend for lunch, and since his office was just down the street we went to Hunan. We both had the buffet, and it was like I remembered it: enjoyable, the items I had were tasty, the atmosphere good. I don't know why it took me so long to get back there, although maybe it was because of distance. Anyway, there's a reason Hunan has almost perpetually been voted best Chinese restaurant in Baton Rouge over the last couple of decades. I place to return next time I want Chinese.

My wife had been within the last month so we went for lunch on Saturday. Don't know if it was because of the weekend or just the staff was off or what, but I won't be going back. They have a lunch buffet, which serves until around 2pm. We were there before noon. We were seated immediately, but had to find a waitress after sitting there for 10 minutes to get our drink orders. There were only 4 other occupied tables when we came in so it wasn't like they were super busy. The food was mediocre at best. I'm not a Chinese food connoisseur but it was the worst lo mien I can remember every trying. The fried rice wasn't very fried. When paid (at the door on the way out), we waited for a few minutes until my wife found a staff person to request someone man the register. In their defense, the lady was getting a to go order ready, but there were staff all over the place, seems like she didn't need to leave the register to do it.
