Chimes is one of Baton Rouge's staple go-to restaurants for just about anyone. Wether you're bringing out of town friends and family to showcase some good ole Cajun food in the heart of the city or whether you want to just have a casual outing or even a romantic date night this place is very popular. The blackened alligator is... More

The atmosphere is the one of a cafe with nice music, quite noisy but it's ok, and the waitresses are taking care ok. We ordered one of the house's specialty, shrimps in a spicy creamy salsa, with some kind of pie, that was still frozen inside. As I'm used to to spoil food, I did not mention this, but I'm... More

So, I recieved a graduate degree from LSU and wanted to come help after the floods. I worked a 10 hour day doing "mud-outs" on homes with a volunteer group and afterwards needed a cold one. It was perfect. As usual, the chimes was the spot where we laughed loud, told stories, had wonderful food and fantastic drinks. Go for... More

Whether you are looking for a bar scene, a great meal, or both, the Chimes is a definite. In the heart of LSU's campus, the chimes welcomes parents and students alike. I was in town visiting my daughter (an LSU student) while she participated in the pageant. After the pageant, my family, and two other families decided we'd all go... More

I work on campus and can walk to this location (and do a lot). They always have 2-3 young ladies at the door to greet and seat you. Very few time have I had to wait for a table. The servers are knowledgable and friendly. The menu has a wide variety of food. This will continue to be my go-to... More

Chimes is known as a great place to go eat before a Tiger's football game. It's also a great location to go after the game. We were immediately seated. The restaurant was full but not packed. Our party of four was immediately seated. We arrived ~30 minutes after the end of the game. While the restaurant was busy, our waitress... More

I took an old friend of 30 years to this place. I have been going for years. Very popular. A couple of locations. One right at the gates of LSU. My favorite is two things. Great variety of tap beers and the marinated crab claws are my favorite. To e, very authentic South LA food.

It was started in the early 1980s, near the main campus of LSU. It's known for comfort food and drinks. Nice selection of appetizers and entrees. Fried crab fingers are a must. Seafood poboys or fried platters are delicious. Price is reasonable and worth the visit.

First... As you know the wait staff can make or break a dining experience. Our waitress was a true gem! We dined with our niece and the food was wonderful, the atmosphere was great (not too crowded, not too dark and not too loud) and again the waitress rocked! The after the boil soup was a real surprise! So delicious,... More
