My wife and I went for dinner this past Saturday after a disappointing dinner at another place on Friday. Butchertown Grocery hit the mark! The space and vibe are really good and decorated well. Drink and wine list really good. We split the bucatini, hanger...steak frites and grilled broccolini. All 3 dishes were amazing! Service was spot on. All in all a very good meal, service and worth the money. Would definitely recommend.More

I took my wife to the Butchertown Grocery yesterday for Valentines Day brunch. We have been there for dinner in the past but lunchtime was a new experience for us. The service was over the top even on this busy day but the main attraction...was the food. It was an amazing meal!! The had home made chicken noodle soup which was just the thing for this very cold day. I recommend that you visit for lunch one day with your wife and make a day of exploring our great city.More

Warm, stylish eatery in a 19th-century building located in Louisville's historic Butchertown neighborhood. American classics with a twist, like the country pate and bourbon-spiked fries, or the oysters with bourbon mignonette. The dining room downstairs features shelves of dry goods along with exposed red brick...and wood. A “Gunkel’s” sign is also painted on the brick wall behind the bar. Let me just take the downside out of the way since I don’t want it to take away from the delicious food we had. Service was possibly the worst I have had in a while. Our waitress was friendly but either new without any clue about serving or just hungover? She Brought us first my coffee with no milk or spoon or anything then milk, then spoon, after 10mins my friend’s tea again with no spoon. Throughout our whole experience was that one item at the time, which honestly was VERY ANNOYING!! And I will take a star away for that (sorry Butchertown I still love you =] ) We went for Sunday brunch. Not cheap (especially for Louisville), but well worth it! Everything we ordered was fantastic; Eggs Benedict made with pork belly that was out of this world and Pop’s Waffle was also delicious. Food - *BUTCHERTOWN EGGS BENEDICT pork belly, english muffin, truffle bearnaise *Pop’s Waffle bacon, fried eggs, molasses butter, maple syrup What a great surprise!More

Planned a night out to celebrate Chinese New Year but wanted a western food restaurant. Can't really get REAL Chinese food here in Blue Grass Country. Called Butchertown Grocery at 3:45 PM today. Went through the litany of 1 for this and 2 for that...and finally got to a recording saying no one is here now leave your name and number along with your request and we'll get back to you. Never called me back. Suppose they have all the customers they need?More

We stopped for lunch. I found the food to be overpriced. I don't mind spending extra for great food, but this missed the mark for us. Just a few blocks down sits BG Bakery. I would recommend stopping in for a coffee and a cupcake....The Bourbon & Salted Caramel Cupcake was worth every penny. Things to Note: Service was very friendly, parking is on the street. You can grab your meal to go as well.More

The food and service was good. The food was a little overpriced for the amount that you received. Very interesting menu.

We had heard from a variety of sources that this place was a must while visiting Louisville. We decided to start off our NYE celebration at the upstairs bar of Butchertown Grocery, more admirably known as Lola. We had a reservation for 2 at 9:30...and were seated immediately. Our server was kind, knowledgeable and extremely attentive. The decor upstairs was intimate and perfect for a romantic evening for 2. Their cocktail menu was innovative and really highlighted the local distilleries. We started with the bourbon barrel pork belly which was finished with crisp and flavorful veggies. It was tender and delicious. My fiancé and I both ordered pasta. He had the fettuccini with the beautiful and bright egg yolk on top. I opted for the gnocchi which had delicious oyster mushrooms and cheese. Honestly one of the best meals I ever ate. Don’t skimp on dessert either! The Banana Bread pudding was warm and delicious, while the coffee ice cream made with coconut cream was a creamy and delightful way to end the. Thank you Lola for the perfect evening!More

I saw this on one of the TV shows and thought, let's go. I was very disappointed. I had their "Chicken and Waffles" and it was terrible. It was greasy, overly fried. All the grease made me sick. My husband has something like a deconstructed...bagel. It was good, but over priced for what it was. It is not a family place. I cannot recommend it.More

I ordered escargot for the first time in my life. It was amazing! They were cooked in a delicious cheesey sauce. I also ordered waffles and chicken. The waffle was crispy and the chicken too. I loved every bite.

Here is the dinner menu: They have plenty of meat options and FYI, the chef came out and talked to the table next to us. Perhaps asking to see the chef would help to discern. I had the lamb and it was delicious! go check... More
