My husband took me to Varanese for Valentines Day brunch. This was our first visit but it definitely won't be our last. Everything was absolutely perfect; the atmosphere, service, quality of food and great drinks. They even provided live music. Our server, Mackenzie was fantastic;...she was very friendly, efficient and attentive. We were served complimentary bruschetta for an appetizer. I ordered the hot brown which was delicious. My absolute favorite course was dessert. I ordered the chocolate, banana, peanut butter pie with homemade strawberry ice cream. I can not describe how scrumptious this dessert was. I can't wait to return to Varenese.More

What a great find in the back streets of Louisville. Like being transported to Paris. Wonderful, creative dishes served by people who are delighted you are there. A breath of fresh air in this pandemic craze. Don't miss it!

We made reservations and they sat us at a tiny table at the bar, which was disappointing. There’s a vegetarian option on the menu. I asked them to make it vegan for me. It was just a smaller plate of sautéed vegetables. I was still...starving after I ate it. I asked for some breadsticks. The drinks were too strong. Service and staff were good. But everything else was abysmal. Not sure how this is ranked one of the best restaurants in Louisville. I will never be back.More

Food was good and service was excellent. The Old Fashions were to die for. There was live music which made it a little difficult to have a conversation. We had reservations but were seated in the back near the bar, which was dark and noisy...with waiters coming in and out. Not sure why we weren't offered a table in the main dining area which was only half full. But all in all was a nice dinner.More

Typically visit Varanese several times a year and are never disappointed by the food, service or atmosphere. When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was our anniversary and when we arrived there was a nice corner table selected for us, with rose petals...scattered on the table cloth and a "Happy Anniversary" table card. Both the hostess and our server wished us welcome and congratulations. The combo played the Anniversary Waltz. Though entrees were tempting as always, we ended up selecting several appetizers as a meal, shared a cocktail, and also a bottle of very reasonably priced California bubbly that went well with everything we ordered. The stuffed squash blossoms were a standout seasonal treat. Even under the new hygiene and distancing practices, Varanese still delivers an elegant dining experience.More

Dinner on Sunday night was so very pleasant. Tried the pork pot stickers and duck egg rolls as an appetizer. Both very tasty as were the sauces. Dinner for our party of three consisted of the ribeye, the flank steak, and the monk fish. All...cooked to perfection. We couldn’t choose a dessert so we asked the waiter to surprise us. He brought out the bread pudding served non traditionally with a marshmallow topping. Amazing. The experience was so nice and topped off with a duo quietly playing in the background. On a side note they have their own parking lot, as parking can be challenging at times on Frankfort avenue. Additionally, they have two dining areas that can be closed off for parties who want to have private dining. Highly recommend. Cheers.More

We had reservations and were seated immediately. The server was very friendly and prompt. I ordered the 16 oz ribeye and my date had the 8 oz fillet. The meat was very tender and flavorful. I definitely prefer this restaurant over another one that starts...with an L and ends in O. We plan to return in the future.More

What I loved best about Varanese was the atmosphere, the beautiful light live music, white table cloths, and friendly servers. The food was okay, but actually the seasonal tur-duck-en wasn’t exceptional. I guess I expected better, I just need to try something else on the...menu.More

The food is delicious, the service top notch, and atmosphere relaxed. We tried the Progressive Dinner and were delighted. Plenty of food, from 4 appetizers (Shrimp Wonton, Benedictine Crostini, Seafood Salad on Crostini, and Rueben Bites); choice of entrees with wine (Grilled Salmon, Smoked Pork Chop,...or Beef Tenderloin) and 2 sinfully rich desserts! Chef Varanese and his staff know how to please!More

Our group of six ate at Varanese for the first time. The menu was adequate, with a decent variety. The pork chop was excellent and other dishes were good. They have a nice wine selection and the martinis were excellent. Service was quite good. Attentive,...without being overly annoying. We asked to be moved to a different table, because there was live music and we were so close we couldn't have a conversation. They were very accommodating. When the check came, we were pleasantly surprised. Even with drinks, wine and a shared dessert, the total was less than $100 per couple.More
