Dined at this restaurant this evening for my sons birthday. He spent 10 days in Germany in May and wanted some authentic German cuisine. We enjoyed a wonderful soup of the day , a creamy creation made with Brussels spouts, the featured salad, and wonderful main dishes . Between the three of us we tried, veal, pork and chicken dishes.... More

We have lived in Germany and frequently need a schnitzel fix. We were so pleased with the Gasthaus restaurant. Nice ambiance, very nice service, and jager schnitzel to die for. Also a very nice wine and beer selection. Thoroughly enjoyed. If we lived in Lousiville, this would be in our regular rotation...

I was back in Louisville and went for a return visit with colleges to Gasthaus German Restaurant. I think it was even better this time. FIrst, the atmosphere is outstanding. When you get inside, you feel you are in Germany which is a surprise based upon the low key exterior view. The people inside are equally as dressed and very... More

We really enjoyed the schnitzel. Slightly thick and very juicy/moist. Desserts were off the charts. You can absolutely tell that everything is carefully homemade. The soup (chicken paprika?) was literally to die for.

The Gasthaus German Restaurant was wonderful! We both had the sauerbraten with spatzle and I also had the potato soup. Both were delicious. The meat was easy to cut with a fork and tasted fantastic. As many have reported, the soup was to die for. Bottled beer and wine are also available. The service couldn't have been better. As might... More

Gasthaus in Louisville, Ky is a little restaurant but has a good flavor. Inside is a little dining area with some in little house style settings – watch you noggin. Its small so reservations will be imperative on week-ends. Ok the apparel is a little kitschy and the teddy bears on one house stared at me as I ate. I... More

We, two European couples (German, Dutch and Greek) had dinner here. Best German Restaurant and German food that we have had in our 28 Years living in the USA. From the atmosphere to the service to the food just one word amazing. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant at your next visit to Louisville, KY.

Gasthaus is one of my all time favorite restaurants. The service is always excellent and the food can't be beat. The desserts are delicious if we save room for them. Reservations are a must no matter how small or large your party is. They do not open until 5:00 pm. This is definitely worth your time.

Easily the best german food I have had since visiting Berlin. Sauces were amazing which really made the meat stand out. Might be one of the better dessert places in Louisville. All the food is home made and they take pride in their food and service. Family run restaurant. Need reservations. One of the best restaurants in Louisville.

The ingredients were not quality . they need to import. As are on vacation from Orlando. We enjoy the Hollarbach Wiow Tree Cafe which has its own German grocery store. We also love Epcot's German pavilion. So we were disappointed, especially because the prices were steep.
