We only stopped in because of the good trip advisor reviews. The food was excellent, but the ambiance was just okay as the inside of the restaurant is still closed because of covid. We went back to the car to get jackets and blankets and sat outside in the alley. We had a large heater and it was fine, but I just wasn't prepared to sit outside and all you could smell was the propane. However, the service was great. I think we had a waitress in training so the two of them took good care of us - both very friendly. My spouse and I both had the signature pork dish and our teenager daughters both had the chicken burrito. The empanadas and shrimp ceviche were excellent appetizers. It was a lot of food too! The area of town is a little eclectic and artisy, but sitting in the alley did give me a little uneasy feeling. But in the end, everything was great!

Kelly, we appreciate you and your family stopping in to dine with us. We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused when you dined on our side patio. We, as a restaurant family, all decided what was best for our guests safety and that of our staff was to wait until we had access to full vaccinations to include our inside seating again. Mayan Cafe has been so grateful to see the support of our community in this decision and we appreciate all of our diners agreeing to stay on our side and (now) front patio as we navigate this tricky time. We hope that if you come back to town you will come in to dine inside next time. Thank you!

We did lunch, which was quite good and reasonably priced. My son very much enjoyed his veggie burrito, and my puppozoles (misspelled) were good if not marvelous. Service was a bit lackluster given that they weren’t busy.

Thanks very much for having lunch with us recently. I'm glad you and your son enjoyed your meal. I am very sorry, however, that the service wasn't up to your expectations. I will speak with our front of house managers about your comments and we will work to improve this.

The food and service was wonderful and sitting on the patio (under a heater however) was a treat for a northerner who is really tired of winter. The grapefruit mojito was a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, the ceviche with the tuna was a special treat. Take the servers advice - you can’t go wrong.

Excellent food, service and ambiance, they have reasonably cocktails and a very good affordable wine list. We shared a scallop ceviche which was beautifully presented. For entrees we enjoyed the salmon and the Cochinita Pibil, which is slow cooked pork and extremely delectable. Plan early, as reservations fill fast.

Visited for dinner - had one night in L'ville and decided on Mayan. Incredible food experience. We sample several dips and the entrees were so flavorful and unique. WIll definitely return one day. 5 stars

The food and service at Mayan Cafe are spectacular. I have tried to describe my meal to friends, and I really don't know how. It was somewhat similar to Mexican, but with different wonderful spices and lots of citrusy flavors. We ordered and shared an entree, a salad and two sides, and all were marvelous. Everything we ordered seemed healthy and fresh. I felt that my unvaccinated family member was safe as possible there. We will absolutely be back. This was one of the best meals either of us has ever had.

There are plenty of food options on the menu that you simply don't often see elsewhere. We really enjoy the variety offered and thoroughly enjoyed every item we had. Everything was terrific. Definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic first meal in Louisville!
From the friendly greeting when we first walked in to the delicious food and cocktails and great service we were super impressed with Mayan Cafe. If we had more time we definitely would have returned.
Great choices for vegetarians and pescatarians as well!

Very nice dinner with a colleague. Reservation for two was taken on line and table was ready when we arrived. Menu is authentic to the restaurant name. Prices were reasonable I had a difficulty time choosing between the two mole dishes, pibil, or papadzules. I got the chicken thigh mole with plantains and my friend ordered the pibil. Both were perfectly prepared and tasty. We split an order of tres leches cake. Everything was simply excellent. Our server was knowledgeable, efficient and pleasant. Also, we decided to walk back to the convention center hotel area and had a nice stroll if you are up for a walk.

The food and service were amazing. We ordered tuna ceviche, kale salad, rabbit and fish. The hostess was very welcoming. Also, our server was great. We love how the Chef is creating special dishes and incorporates local produce, and also supports minorities. Well done creating memorable culinary experiences. Your hard work is noticed and appreciated.

Excellent service and the dishes served are exquisite! Fresh farm-to-table offerings with traditional Mayan flavors are a culinary explosion in your mouth. I had the ceviche, followed by the papadzules and since I don’t know when I’ll be back in Louisville and the whole menu sounded so good, this piglet ordered second entree—the chef’s signature duck with mole. Nothing disappointed. I also tried the lavender flan which was a calming and delightful finish. But now this glutton is stuffed, but beyond content and I need to now walk instead of Uber back to my hotel…

Referred by a local and it did not disappoint. I. A very cool area of town. We ate out on the “side patio” which was basically an alley slightly landscaped. Our food was an interesting mix of Cuban, Mexican and American, I guess. Our burritos were delicious and quite large. The guacamole and chips were fresh and very tasty.

We enjoyed dining at this restaurant. We had a tuna ceviche, kale/ quinoa salad, tacos, chef’s special and the lavender flan. The hostess was friendly and our server very nice. All food was delicious. We highly recommend this place.

I wish I took some pictures. The food was so good we just kept ordering. We started with empanadas and the scallop ceviche. Everything was so great we added the tuna ceviche. The quality of food, service and atmosphere will make me think of this place for years. There is a reason they are ranked so high and they won’t disappoint you.

We are at the food truck that is inside Gravely Brewery. The food was fantastic. My husband said the fish tacos were great. We used to go the the restaurant when we lived in Louisville 15 years ago and the truck did not dosappoibt.
