Best restaurant we ate at on our 5 night trip to KY! Highly recommend the empanadas and the papadzules, the flavors are so unique and delicious and unlike anything I’ve tried before. I do suggest you make a reservation as it is a smaller restaurant...and it’s very popular! After (or before) you eat there is also Nulu next door which is an outdoor area with several bars/shops.More

Everything we ate was very good and flavorful. The jicama salad was great, there daily special salbutes were amazing. Nice enchiladas and burrito as well. The spicy mango margarita was excellent.

Referred by a local and it did not disappoint. I. A very cool area of town. We ate out on the “side patio” which was basically an alley slightly landscaped. Our food was an interesting mix of Cuban, Mexican and American, I guess. Our burritos...were delicious and quite large. The guacamole and chips were fresh and very tasty.More

The food and service was wonderful and sitting on the patio (under a heater however) was a treat for a northerner who is really tired of winter. The grapefruit mojito was a perfect balance of sweet and tangy, the ceviche with the tuna was a...special treat. Take the servers advice - you can’t go wrong.More

We enjoyed dining at this restaurant. We had a tuna ceviche, kale/ quinoa salad, tacos, chef’s special and the lavender flan. The hostess was friendly and our server very nice. All food was delicious. We highly recommend this place.

Due to the status of the pandemic and chilling winter temperatures, I decided to order carry out and I am very glad I did. Unfortunately, pre-online ordering was not possible but when I arrived to order carry out in person, everything went very smoothly. The...staff was very kind and knowlegable about the menu. I ordered the Dip Trio, the Salbutes and a side of plantains. While I was waiting, the staff welcomed me to sit an non-vacant table and offered me a glass of water, which I thought was very kind. My entire order was ready to go in less than twenty minutes, which I will say was very impresseive. The staff proactively packaged each component seperately, and included additinal napkins and cutlery with my order just in case they were needed. I was very impressed with the food for many reasons. First - other than one of the dips ( the pumpkin seed hummus), everything was exceptional. The flavors were fresh, packed full of flavor and delicous. Second - having dined at Mayan Cafe several times - the quality and presentation of food recieved via carry out was just as good as when I decided to dine-in with them previously. No corners were cut in preparation/presentation AND portion sizes were just as hearty. Overall I am very pleased with my decision to dine at Mayan Cafe and I hope others, especially those considering carry out, decide to experience the establishment as well.More

My wife and I had a phenomenal dinner with family at Mayan Café on a recent trip to Louisville. Before I looked at the menu, I checked in using the Yelp app and received a free side of Tok-sel Lima Beans. To be honest, I...can’t even remember the last time I had lima beans. Apparently, Mayan Café is know for these and they were crazy good and a must try. The beans were perfectly prepared and mixed with a flavorful combination of cilantro, scallions, and spices. I also had the Ahi Tuna Ceviche as an appetizer. The fish was melt in your mouth tender, covered in a tangy vinaigrette, and paired with crisp onion and cucumber. Finally, I had the Rabbit as an entrée. Nicely smoky, gamey and tender meat was covered in a rich flavorful mole sauce and paired with sweet plantains. Overall, Mayan Café is a must visit when in Louisville.More

Excellent food, service and ambiance, they have reasonably cocktails and a very good affordable wine list. We shared a scallop ceviche which was beautifully presented. For entrees we enjoyed the salmon and the Cochinita Pibil, which is slow cooked pork and extremely delectable. Plan early,...as reservations fill fast.More
