While visiting the Galt House for a conference, I tried Walkers Exchange for a light dinner. After reading so many reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by my meal, but especially by the service, I received. I had the baby wedge salad and fried clams. Both items were presented beautifully and were abundant in size. The clams were cooked well and served with a nice dipping sauce. They were chewy, but fried clams are usually chewy. The salad was very good and the presentation of it was fantastic
But I have to brag on the service, from the time I met the hostess who was very gracious to let me choose my table, to the very well mannered waiter. My waiter was Kamau and he had the perfect combination of checking to see if I needed anything often enough without needless chit chat. He was without a doubt the best waiter that I encountered during my entire 4-day trip, in which I ate at several more upscale restaurants. Good job Kamau!

Just arrived in town, staff is very inviting, started with calamari , salad with grilled salmon, greens. Save room for dessert! Warm brownie with hot fudge. Came in hungry left happy. Shout out the Kathy thanks for making us feel like we were at home.

So impressed with the experience at Walkers. I called and asked a few questions the day before our reservation. Rachel was so kind and helpful. I was able to see photos of the outdoor seating and confirm where to park. On the Saturday of our reservation, we were seated outside and the outdoor seating area is perfect; protected from the sun and shaded. All it needs is some outdoor string lighting to improve the appearance, but no complaints! This is the best outdoor dining experience I’ve had since restaurants resumed service after closing for the pandemic. The restaurant & the staff are very cognizant of sanitation and safety precautions; and obviously the guests’ safety and comfort is the priority, which I appreciated! Our server, Angie, was very knowledgeable and allowed me to sub my side. She provided excellent service, we never had to ask for anything. The food was PHENOMENAL. We loved every single dish; the salmon and Brussels were excellent and the vinegar slaw was especially good. We highly recommend the crab cakes and greens too! Just WOW. Walkers is now on my “go to” list! A++++++

I had salmon one night for dinner, and it was excellent and only around $20.00. We went to the breakfast buffet for $22.00, and it was no better than the "free" breakfast you receive at other hotels. Yogurt expired 10 days ago, cinnamon rolls were dried out, eggs, oatmeal, and grits had been sitting out for too long. Disappointing.
The service was excellent, though.

Their hours are 6:30-11am for breakfast and at 11 lunch opens. I arrive at 10:15 for breakfast and the host tells me they’ve stopped seating breakfast already. I ask to have lunch then. Apparently today they decided to close early and won’t be offering lunch. I contact the front desk & they tell me they are not closing early and are indeed still serving breakfast. I go back and discuss with the host. She gets fed up and brings the chef out. It’s not until the chef comes out that they decided to make my breakfast. I’m handed a menu & the rude host stares me down and asks me to hurry.

Decided to give this place a try since it is so close to the KY Center for the Arts.
Seated quickly (although the greeter seemed to have a little trouble finding my Open Table reservation in their system). Server appeared new to serving in general, not very confident. He overall was okay but seemed to struggle a bit, at times, understanding what we were asking for. He also did not pre-bus, we sat with empty dishes on our table. Took a fairly long time to get our wine considering how empty the place was when we got there.
The place is very new so the seating/tables/design were all clean and new.
Menu did not have a lot of vegetarian options, but the chopped salad (hold the bacon) was pretty good. Also had Thelma’s pizza (which was a margarita pizza), which was good.
There was no bar in the restaurant. They had a cart with wine bottles on it near the kitchen door. Not a high end wine list but decent lower level wines (LaMarca Prosecco, Coppola wine, that sort of thing).
View of Belvedere was nice, other than there being a large white pickup truck parked right outside the window.
Got there around 6pm and place was fairly empty. It filled up quickly though, so I’m glad we got there early. If going to an 8pm show at the Center, probably want to get there at 6pm to be safe.
Bathrooms were right outside the restaurant, in the hotel. They were clean, which is always important.

We went to Walkers Exchange for breakfast. They are currently only serving a buffet style breakfast which was very standard with average food. For the quality of food, it was extremely overpriced. We were sadly disappointed. I’m hopeful that their lunch & dinner are a better experience.

After waiting a long time (they did not seem that busy) for Eggs Benedict it was horrible. Muffin not toasted, Canadian bacon was cold, Eggs barely poached and the sauce was room temperature. We should have made a fuss but we could not even get a second cup of coffee. We just paid and left (with the bad breaffast still on the plate.).

Last year when II was here, I ordered the French toast because the menu stated it came with bourbon maple syrup. Yum, right? When delivered to the table, it came with high fructose corn syrup. Pointing this out to the waitress brought only a shrug from her. The manager replied to my review that there was some supply chain delay. Today, I asked before ordering, and although the menu states several items come with bourbon maple syrup, they are still out of it. This is after over one year. I think they need to come up with a better excuse or rewrite the menus.

I am very sorry for the perceived inattentiveness you may have experienced.
I actually do remember the review from last year and there is truly no major bourbon maple syrup conspiracy. There is also no need to re-write menus. We actually do have the listed syrup every day, but we make it in house versus in the past ordering, it from the outside. We merely ran out this morning and fresh was prepared immediately. If you are still in-house we would be happy to accommodate as listed on the menu.

We had very high expectations, as we had just come from an amazing little speak easy on the opposite side of the city. Sadly, these expectations were diminished the second we walked in. We arrived around 6, and we’re not seated for nearly 10 minutes. Had we been one of 5+ parties, this would be understandable, but we were one of two in a deserted restaurant. The poor service didn’t stop there, as it took another 20 minutes for us to get 4 drinks. Once we did finally get our drinks, we ordered, hoping this would get us moving a little faster. But no. By this time, other parties had shown up, all sitting in various places with different servers than us. 20 minutes later, after at least 3 families of 4+ got their food, most of them showing up after us, we got our food. The food was okay, and we were all surprised it was actually warm. We then had 2 of our groups members order a drink; one a tap beer, and the other a house wine. Simple to get right? All you have to do is pull a tab and pop a cork. Our waiter(John)disappeared for 35 minutes(yes, we counted), only walking by at the far end of the restaurant, never making eye contact with us. By this time, we had gotten the manager involved. But she didn’t seem to concerned, as I had never once saw her walk to the back where our waiter was hiding out. She instead went to the front, and sat 4 people who had been waiting for at least 15 minutes. It had gotten to the point that we were ready to dine and dash, though we would have never done that. We were extremely disappointed in this place and wouldn’t recommend it to even a poop eating fly.

Jason went above and beyond for our group who needed a very early breakfast option. He coordinated with management and the kitchen staff to provide our group with a to-go option before the buffet opened. We were so appreciative of his efforts. We also enjoyed dessert and late night snacks on a different evening and our waitress Nathalie was so friendly! The restaurant was clean, bright, and everyone enjoyed their food.

We had a reservation for 2 for 6:00pm, we were seated and given waters right away. Waiter came about 10mins later and told us to order everything now because he was to busy to come back and check on us. We order everything, then 40 mins later we get our appetizer and the entrees at the same time. During that 40 mins we only got 1 water refill. We ordered the rigatoni pasta and it tasted like it was doused in hot sauce not pasta sauce. The menu said nothing about hot sauce/spicy about the pasta dish. Our waiter then disappeared for over 20mins, no water refills, no check ins, nothing. We finally flag him down and ask for water and to just send the pasta back and get the check for the appetizer. He came back with the check, we asked for water again, he came back again to collect the bill but still no water. I gave him my payment and begged for a final time for my water refill. Just all around bad service and a nasty pasta dish.

Our server Rudelsy was great. She made suggestions on what to eat on our first visit there and was a joy with a big smile the whole time she waited on us. The food was good southern dishes I really enjoyed the pot roast and the cheese curd appetizers.

The food was cold and pretty much flavorless we asked for second drinks and the waiter didn’t even bring them. We were there for almost two hours. Our waiter took a long time and the overall experience was terrible, the waiter only came over to our table when he saw us getting ready to leave.

Decided to have lunch at Walker's Exchange and was delighted with not only the food, but especially the service. Katie was our server and she went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of, and did it with such an upbeat and positive attitude! We also had the chance to meet Erica, a manager, who was such a delight to talk to and went out of her way to create an experience for us that was memorable. Highly recommend the Short Rib Southern Hand Pies, Chicken Lettuce Wraps and the Gumbo! The food and the exceptional service is what will have us coming back during our next stay at The Galt House!
