My wife and I wanted a nice steak in Louisville. The hotel suggested Repeal. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. Erin helped us with our order. The bad news is, my wife's steak was served cold. The waiter noticed my wife's squinchy face. The steak was removed and 2 minutes later my wife had nice juicy, hot steak. We were very impressed how Erin noticed the problem and solved it right away with finesse. The manager double checked to make sure everything was perfect. Every one makes mistakes, but this restaurant has game! Definitely a 5 star restaurant!

Superb service and excellent food! We were there for my husband’s birthday, and the service was outstanding. Our server, Josh, took note of a food allergy at the table, explained why the restaurant is different from competitors, and made personalized (and fantastic) recommendations, all without being overbearing or hovering. There was a small issue with our order, and I felt like a VIP with how it was handled. The petite filet was well-seasoned and cooked. Roasted vegetables were lightly charred but still crispy (and that lemon aioli!). The meringue on the key lime pie was a little sweet for my taste, but it balances well with the tartness of the pie. Definitely a standout in a foodie city. We’ll be back!

Great date night! We had wanting to try Repeal since it open. We went on a Sunday evening which seem to be the perfect time. It was busy but not crazy busy which allowed us to relax more and not feel rushed. We enjoyed the table they selected for us and the chairs were so comfortable. Service and food were excellent. Jacob was fantastic and took care of us without being overwhelming or hovering. The crabcake was filled with so much crab and unbelievably delicious. We ordered the petite filet with a few sides. The filet was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. The cream spinach and mushrooms we fantastic. Flavorful but not overwhelming. We also enjoyed the house Cab and house Sirah with the fillet. It all paired so well.

I’ll start with the fact that we were literally 5 mins early for our brunch reservation, the restaurant was practically empty and I was told that we could wait in the hotel lobby which was packed and not in the empty bar / lounge area.
Next up, I ordered the American Breakfast with scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes and bacon (which I requested crisp). My husband ordered the Nutella waffle and a side of bacon (also crisp).
My bacon was nowhere near crisp so I politely sent it back. They didn’t bring any butter or jam for the toast. I asked for that. By the time I went to eat and noticed there was no salt and pepper on the table, I was done and tired of asking questions. Fortunately, my husband had pity on me and asked. The eggs were cold and not fit to eat. I was already waiting on my bacon so there was NO WAY I was going to say anything. Their version of breakfast potatoes was roasted Yukon golds that were crispy on the outside and nearly raw on the inside. The only redeeming quality of my meal was when the bacon finally did come back it was both crispy and decent. The coffee was also good.
My husband had no complaints about his waffle. But, it was nothing to write home about.
Finally. If I had been the server or the manager who walked by many times and likely heard me complaining saw that my eggs had barely been touched that was an opportunity to ask me if I didn’t enjoy them.
I guess in the upside, we had a $10 voucher to soften the blow of an expensive not even Waffle House quality breakfast. We actually have a voucher for each day. But, we couldn’t get reservations for dinner and the bar was completely crowded last night. I guess leaving $10 on the table is a small price to pay because If you can’t make breakfast, why should I buy a $60 steak from you.

Great restuarant. Josh our waiter was great. He was knowledgable and attentive. We each ordered steak (filet and strip). Shared the wedge salad (omg the bacon) and shared sides of Grilled Broccoli (which the top piece appeared to be gotten lost on the grill for a bit) and the Whipped potatoes. They were good but way over whipped for my liking almost to a point they would slide off the spoon without help. The ice cream sundae is a must. Homemade ice cream and mousse and the bananas.. WOW...

We came here for a late dinner as we had only just arrived in the city and it was over the road from our hotel. We are so glad we did! This is possibly the best food we’ve had in the States, and even in the UK for a while (and we have visited plenty of great restaurants).
The service was impeccable and started the minute we walked in the door as they were extremely accommodating even though it was only 25 minutes until their kitchen closed and no one there made us feel rushed or like we were an imposition. They also handled the Covid precautions extremely well - everything was well spaced out, all the staff wore proper masks and there was sanitiser available. However, it was a good but discreet handling and I didn’t feel they were aggressive about it at all.
Now for the food - as it was late we only went for mains and had the wagyu burger and roast chicken. Both were outstanding and we enjoyed every mouthful. The burger in particular was the best I think I’ve ever eaten and will be the standard for all burgers we eat from now on! The cocktails were also great and throughout we received excellent service in every sense. Even with a lower capacity due to Covid, and us visiting late on a Wednesday night, the restaurant still had a good atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant as a must visit if you’re in Louisville.

I stayed overnight in Lousiville for a business trip, and after a super long day of driving aroundKentucky to visit with customers, my bed was looking really good, but I HAD to eat. A colleague of mine recommended an area a few blocks away with a lot of different restaurants, but I couldn't get the energy together to go anywhere. This is when I wondered into Repeal. Its in the Hotel Distil so it carries the same prohibition theme as the hotel does. Very nice decor and a wonderful drink menu. I had a glass of wine, but I watched the different cocktails being made as well as the very knowledgable bartenders discuss each ingredient with ease. The filet I ordered was cooked to perfection with a crust around the outside that was to die for. This was an unexpectedly great restaurant and I would recommend a visit to everyone who is in the area, or is looking for a special date night out.

I was disappointed in my visit to Repeal. My wife and I recently visited for Brunch with family. I’ll start with the good. The Bacon Old Fashioned was phenomenal and one of the best Old Fashioned cocktails I have ever tried. I would definitely visit again just for the cocktails. However, the food was disappointing. Considering Repeal specializes in steaks, I ordered the Repeal Steak Oscar & Eggs ($58). Even though the steak was peppery and the tender king crab, sweet hollandaise sauce, and crisp asparagus helped provide flavor, the steak was well done and not medium rare like I ordered and the eggs were not cooked over easy (most of the yolk had been cooked through) like I ordered.

I had been to Repeal twice previously. Both times were business related, once for lunch and once for dinner. So, I decided to take my wife for our anniversary. I am not sure if it was the service or the food, but, unfortunately, we were not overly impressed with either. I found this disappointing as I had set the stage based on the previous visits. The service was moderate, but there appeared to be some disconnect between the floor staff and the kitchen as our food arrived several minutes before the wine and not quite prepared as we had asked. It may have just been the day as we went on Monday 8/24. The highlight of the visit was the 1/2 price wine by the bottle for everything under $150! I would go back just to try a different bottle, but maybe just get an appetizer and save the money from dinner for another bottle of wine.

Absolutely fantastic! The food, drinks and service were top notch. We had booked a table based on reviews, not realizing it was in the lobby of Hotel Distil. We usually avoid hotel restaurants as they’re often overpriced with so so food. Not the case here!! Amazing service, we all had steaks which were cooked perfectly. The sides (2-3 can share) were excellent, and a great wine selection for any budget. So glad we ate here!!

We recently had brunch with another couple. We chose to eat in the bar area because of its cozy ambiance. Three of us ordered the shrimp and crab roll It was delicious. Our friend had the prime rib French dip which he said was very good. Our bartender/server provided excellent service. He kept our drinks filled and was very attentive He even brought a piece of bourbon bread pudding as my birthday dessert for us to share. A great dining experience. We will definitely be back

Went to celebrate a 50th birthday with 4 couples. The manager was awesome and squeezed our group in when they reopened the rooftop. Only open 2 days as I understand. Server Makayla was awesome, attentive and helpful. Our reservation was at 7:15…Makayka rushed us to order saying we didn’t want to get too far behind the tables in the dining room. We ordered almost immediately, I don’t ever think everyone had received drinks, we ordered, apps which were fabulous! Salads…two of which were not delivered. It took almost 20 minutes to solve the problem….it was after 9:00, we had almost been there 2 hours when our steaks finally came out. Two were completely over cooked and none of the steaks were served hot…lukewarm at best. Most just ate anyway since they were so hungry. We did send back two steaks, which I never do…restaurant did comp the missed salads and the steaks that were returned which was nice but what we really wanted was a memorable night for our friend, overall just disappointing, also…service all not was slow, drinks were slow, apps were slow…when the two steaks were replaced they were delicious and the table agreed they were best of all 8 steaks,,,cooked to perfection and served hot. To top it off someone who brought food to the table told us…the kitchen is slammed and on the struggle bus tonight….when I’m paying $80 for a steak that’s not what I want to hear. They have some work to do to be world class.

This was the best steak I’ve had in a long time. The oysters were large and the bar drinks were very good. Service was excellent - Andrei is hilarious and an awesome server. I recommend the truffle bernaise sauce for the steaks. The 22 ounce ribeye was perfect for sharing with another person. I ordered the scallops and swapped them for some ribeye. We did three sides for four people and it worked well. I’d recommend making a reservation early because this place books up fast.

We spent 5 days in Louisville, we stayed at Hotel Distil on Whiskey Row. Repeal is the restaurant at this property. The restaurant has an authentic traditional rich feel, beautiful well stocked bar, and warm ambiance. We made reservations many weeks prior to our arrival and it was well worth it. Fantastic raw bar, excellent steaks, and plenty of options for the non-steak diner. Because we were staying in the hotel we also dined at Repeal on two mornings prior to our excursions out and their breakfast was also well executed and started our day off well.

The best steak we have ever had… service was spot on, and very friendly. We started off with a Manhattan and a Busy Bee. Both drinks were delicious. Had the oysters Rockefeller, which were tasty. The petite filets were cooked to perfection, served with red wine jus, and horseradish sauce. We really didn’t need the side sauces because the steak alone was so delicious. We had asparagus and mushrooms on the side, along with warm, soft bread. The servings were generous, everything was phenomenal.
