We went here because we could make reservations and not have to wait on a Friday night. However we waited 105 minutes for our food. When it did come though it was the best I have eaten in weeks. I had a scallop shrimp dish that had a kick to it and was to die for. The prices were high... More

Many times my husband and I have had a wonderful meal at Portofino's. Unfortunately, this was not one of them. The pork was dry, the seafood was overcooked, and the service was mediocre. I was saddened. Definitely not worth the $150 check for two. And that was with only one $7 glass of wine.

I eat here frequently. Wayne Masterman has done an excellent job providing slightly haute but mainly accessible cuisine to working guys like me. I usually order the Tuscan bean soup and the goat cheese and apple salad, but when I depart from the my normal pattern, I'm always pleased. This is the mark of a good restaurant; that despite not... Excellent steak, delicious sides, all-round high quality food and service. Our sever was attentive without being intrusive, helpful with allergy information. The ambience is warm and calm; would be a good place for a business dinner.

Food, drinks and service were all outstanding but prices were very high. I would go back for special occasion but not regularly.

I am happy to pay a little extra here, as I have never had a less-than-perfect meal at portofino's. Excellent service, great selection of wine, and a well-curated and -executed menu. One of downtown lexington's treasures.

In fact, this could be a very very good restaurant, but it just falls short. Ambience is great, wine list terrific, service surprisingly slow with a light crowd. But it's mainly the food that disappoints. Caesar salad tasteless. Pasta with scallops and shrimp over salted and gritty. My wife's veal chop described as "okay". This is a very pleasant place... The lunch menu includes a wide range of excellent choices. I had the Italian version of a Kentucky Hot Brown. It was absolutely mouth watering from beginning to end. One of my guests enjoyed ravioli, while the other had spaghetti and meatballs. Both complemented their meals as authentic down to the fresh ingredients. The meal is served with warm bread.... More

My wife and I had a craving for good Italian on our last night in Lexington. We canceled our reservation at Azure in favor of the convenience of Portofino and in hopes of some great Italian fare. While the ambiance and decor are comfortable, the overall experience was just not good. Our server was far too casual, didn't recommend the... More

Good service, great cocktails. The meal was fine, but nothing special. The starters (fried squid and shrimp) was much better than the mains. However, the staff was friendly, the place comfortable.
