Excellent brisket and pulled pork, though the quantity is on the small side Excellent fries. Very good beans. My wife was not particularly impressed with the cheesy grits. Excellent sweet tea Another good meal here.
Stopped for a late lunch and had enough left for supper plus took peach bread pudding and banana pudding to go. The pulled pork was good, nice selection of different sauces to try at tables. We tried the beer cheese grits and corn pudding as...you don’t find them often. Both were really good ! Good sweet tea, too! Definitely will stop again on our way through Lexington!More
Great bbq, great people and fun atmosphere. I would recommend 100% of the time to anyone looking for a great spot to eat.
Service was fast but my brisket & sides were just ok. One slice of the beef was tender & enjoyed it, esp with a bit of the apple bbq sauce. The other 2 slices were hard & chewy rather than tender. All of them were...barely warm. I ordered a side of the fried green tomatoes, which was 3 very small thin slices. One was like mush. The side of potato was more like cold mashed potatoes with chopped onion and celery. As I waited for the order I was encouraged by the number of folks who came in as I'd read such good reviews. After being disappointed the line was so long I didn't want to get in it to express that. There wasn't any table service so I ate what I could. After using the restroom which was very clean, I just left. Perhaps I was just there on a bad day. I'm just visiting but there must be better bbq and I'm not inclined to try it again.More
BEST BBQ EVER, place is small so veryyyyyyy crowded & noisy, though food is outstanding, BRISKET was generous & Ribs were great!
This is one of those occasions where I could do a 3.5. The food was good but not outstanding. I had pork bbq and brisket, sides of baked beans and grean beans. Both meats were tender but pork could have had more flavor. This is...a good stop and short distance of I-64. I will go again as it was good. I did enjoy the assortment of bbq sauces.More
Staff was nice and inside had fun diner vibe. Food wasn’t our favorite. Maybe it was the time of day we visited but it all seemed like it had been sitting out awhile. Meats are dry but they do have plenty of sauce choices to...douse them in.More
I didn't like it but they were very busy so somebody likes it. Brisket was a little chewy with not much flavor. The pulled chicken was good. I attempted to order a rack of ribs with two sides but all I got were the two...sides. They didn't charge us for the ribs so it was an honest mistake which they tried to fix but I had already tasted the brisket and two of their sauces and decided I probably didn't want ribs after all. I can't help but wonder how many 6'2", 260lb men come to the BBQ and don't order meat.More
Don't get the hype? Honestly the hotel next door is scary. The staff was friendly and helpful but the BBQ was overcooked and overpriced. We stopped due to the reviews on Trip advisor, this time it was a poor guide for us.
I never miss the chance when traveling to stop here. Pretty much perfect. Just get past the location and looks, go inside, order, and feast! I don't think they should change a thing. Any of the meats are good, and the sides also. Nothing fancy...here, just great food.More
Don't let looks deceive, this place looks a little "Rustic" on the outside, but the inside is homey and comfy! Complete with autographs on every ceiling and wall! Awesome atmosphere and very friendly staff! Now about the food.... my I got a Grizzley (brisket sandwich,...topped with BBQ beans and mac/cheese)... my mouth thought it died and went to heaven!!!! SO GOOD! My wife got the brisket/beer cheese sandwich and she said it was just as good.... fries were awesome and sweet tea wasn't a slouch either... Our friend got The Jasmine (pulled pork, fried green tomatoes, and roumalade)... amazing twist on a sandwich.... not sure how she felt, she can't stop moaning. I will assume it's good!!!! Overall this is a great place to eat and is highly recommended.....More
Absolutely delish. Stopped for lunch on a long journey home and fell in love with this place! We will definitely be back soon.
Hole in the wall type place with amazing barbeque. Definitely get the beer cheese grits, they are amazing, the use of the beer cheese gives them a flavor you don't get with normal cheese grits. Good mac & Cheese as well. I can also recommend...the corn pudding. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area or headed up 75, you will not be disappointedMore
Red State has great brisket and corn pudding! I also loved the mix of people in line at lunch. People in suits and in farm boots. A local favorite. If you are in the Lexington / Midway area you should stop here.
