The owner is very nice and welcoming. I've only eaten the leaf and rice which is great. I'm from Lexington,KY and it's nice to have restaurants like Sav's with a different taste.

While traveling through Lexington, my husband and I decided we wouldn't eat at any restaurant that we could eat at home. What better way to try new things than to visit a place that serves African food? I was a bit nervous as the smells were a little strange but not unpleasant. The workers were very helpful and described the... More

If you have never had the chance to try West African cuisine, definelty stop over at Sav's grill and don't forget to walk across the street to Sav's chill :) Their food is unique and delicious, I always enjoy their specials and regular menu items. And Sav is such a nice guy, so friendly and nice. Only issue is finding... More

This place was our frequent destination. We love everything about this one, the food, the ambiance, the location, and ofcourse Mamado, the owner! Our favourite was super savory Peanut Goat Curry, with few drops of the Sav's special habenaro hot sauce on it! A simple meal - Peanut Goat Curry served on white/brown rice in a white bowl and that's... More

Was in downtown Lexington for work. Wanted something different for dinner. Sav's was rated quite well and gave it a shot (never had West African cuisine). The menu offered excellent photos and descriptions of the entrees and sides. Everything was extremely flavorful (had the lamb ragout), salad, and plantains. I enjoyed it so much that I returned the next day... More

If you are in Lexington and you are not afraid of hot food, then Sav's is a must go. It is great there and the food is marvelous. But it can be a little on the hot side, which I like, but it does not have to be, if you pay attention.

Today was dinner at Sav's Grill after a while.. I been here couple of times but keep forgetting to review. My favorite thing go get at Sav's is peanut goat. It has the right blend of spices and peanut and both balancing each other rather than one overpowering in taste to other. It's basically comfort foot for soul. Owners are... More

I had not had west african cuisine before coming to Sav's. I was intrigued and ate here twice this fall when coming to Lexington. It's close to the university on Limestone, so was a good lunch option. The food while basic and straightforward is well done and flavorful. I was very happy with the peanut sauce in one dish. If... The food here is so amazing! The meat was tender and delicious. We ordered goat with fufu. I had never had fufu before but it was great! Fufu is a plantain based dumpling. Overall the meal was flavorful and unforgettable. There is a table outside so if the weather is nice, you don't have to stay inside. If you're hungry,... More

This place is one of our favorites across the country. The story of the owner aides in the feel of this unique meal. My kids rarely adventure when it comes to food and they have tried everything on the menu
