We'd heard the White Horse had recently changed hands, as it's a pub we used to visit often but stopped going to, we thought we'd give a try. First impressions - good that the bar area has been restored and received a warm welcome from Darren, good to see he's still there. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with three choices of menu;... More

This pub restaurant has recently changed hands so was a little worried it wouldn't be as good as it used to be. No need to worry at all, in fact it was even better! Food very tasty and fresh, good choice on menu. Service friendly and efficient. As soon as I got home I rang and booked for an evening... More

It was our first night in England, and one of the best pub meals we had in the 6 days we spent there. The location is beautiful as well, overlooking gardens. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Came across this little treasure when we were on our way to stay at Ickwork hotel. Friendly staff. Lovely sunny day so we sat outside. My husband had the roast beef and he said it was the best he had eaten for a Sunday roast. I chose the sea bass, just gorgeous. I want an excuse to travel back there... More

Went last Saturday and enjoyed an excellent meal with a great atmosphere and a good welcome. Real value for money - only disappointment was that they had run out of asparagus and I could not have my favourite starter! Can recommend the duck and a homemade waffle for desert. We will visit again soon!

We've lived in the village on and off since 2002. Now back full time and have avoided the White Horse. We have 3 children and it wasn't family friendly. We were shocked to see a bar back in use and a seating area. The food was AMAZING. We had the sharing platter, braised Steak and finished with the a fabulous... More

As "regulars" at the White Horse since moving to Whepstead 2 years ago we were interested to meet the new owners and sample the new menu. Our first visit was very encouraging. The food was excellent although the service was rather slow. However we arrived at the same time as a number of other guests so the Kitchen may have... More

This village pub has a great reputation locally and has recently changed ownership. The menu and the food are still first class and the decor, charming and traditional. The braised beef and the lamb chops were cooked to perfection. We shared an Eton Mess, which was wonderful. It it really is worth going out in the sticks to find this... More

We took friends out for a meal on Bank Holiday Monday. The dining room was comfortable and spacious. There was a fairly limited range of dishes but all sounded very tempting. The peppered duck and the sea bass were particularly tasty. We followed these with some Etonian messes and cheese and biscuits. The latter is especially recommended. Service was pleasant... More

We've been visiting the White Horse for special occasions for many years and enjoyed a delicious lunch there today. It wasn't until we paid the bill that we learned the pub has recently changed hands. The good news is, the new team is continuing to serve an interesting menu, all beautifully cooked and presented. Between us we had tomato and... More
