We visited on a Sunday night and, although the place was almost empty when we arrived, the atmosphere was relaxed and more diners soon turned up. We arrived at 7pm and the website claims the kitchens shut at 8. This didn't seem to be the case as many people arrived after eight to eat. Worth checking out. Food is delicious... More

The food is excellent. This isn't a fine dining establishment, but it's rather higher quality gastro pub food. The menu has great choice and it all appears to be prepared fresh. I had cod and it was delicious. My acquaintances had haddock and lamb shoulder, they all remarked that it was delicious. The grounds and the restaurant itself are great... More

The Boathouse has for several years been our favourite place to eat on special occasions, take visitors and just eat ourselves. Our recent visit to celebrate an anniversary with family visiting from overseas was very disappointing. The food was ok but the service and general ambience has changed. Standards were very much lower than we have enjoyed in the past.

Excellent service as usual. Some of our party were running late and it was no bother. Food and service were great.

I'll preface this review by saying I've been to the Boathouse many times over the years, for celebrations, a quick lunch and everything inbetween. It used to be our "go to" place to eat if we were celebrating something special... the emphasis on "used to". We booked a table at 6pm and noticed the place was rather empty. Thinking it... More

We meet up with friends here for Sunday lunch every few months and it never fails to deliver an excellent meal, however busy it gets. Service is efficient and attentive and the food excellent, with a wide choice of dishes even on the Sunday menu. Booking is advisable as it gets so busy at peak times and be aware that... More

Went last night and thought it was poor. £12 for a scallop dish where everything was over cooked - knackered scallops; ham you couldn't cut and that my dog would have struggled to chew; and lets not talk about the black pudding hockey pucks! Unfortunately that followed through to the mains - although my wife said her cod was ok.... More

I visited the restaurant on a Friday night. We had come for a walk on the previous date and liked the surroundings, the proximity to the water. We had a mouth watering dinner and the service was good. At the next table a family were celebrating their 10 years old daughter's birthday. The ambiance lovely and festive. I must especially...
