I've eaten here several times and am a local. Their sushi rolls are handmade as you wait and are quite generous in their size. The YumYum sauce here is the best I've ever had. In addition to the usual cheesy flavor theirs also has a slight fruity taste that is tasty! The Jumbo Shrimp dinner comes on a platter, not a plate, to accommodate all the food. First there is the shrimp which are large, plentiful(close to 1/2 to 1 pound) and are grilled to perfection. They are cooked in with mushrooms, onions that taste delicious. The fried rice is not fancy but is moist, tender, delicious and enough to make a meal in and of itself. Even though not fancy rice it is well executed and is my favorite rice in town now. My daughters had the chicken and loved it as well. My youngest daughter kept saying through the whole meal that "this is so good, this is now my favorite restaurant." My wife tried the salmon and liked it as well. Definitely recommend you try this place and believe you'll be coming back.

Driving up the Yamato I could see the hand crafted sign on what looked like a refurbished muffler shop. The first steps in had us wondering about our choice to stop here. However, we were met by the delightful waitress who took us to our table chatting away with wonderful southern charm and the food was terrific with ample servings.

Don't waste your money. We ordered spicy specialty rolls which were very bland. The sushi had a lot of rice (like a huge rice ball). They have alcohol but don't have a drink menu and they limit you to two drinks. Service was very slow. The waiter didn't know the menu. It took 15 minutes just to get water. Luckily, the waiter could not have been more indifferent. If you are looking for bland fast food, this is your place. If you are looking to have a tasty dining experience, bypass this place.

Dismal and depressing decor. Some of the booths are being used as storage areas. The place is just not clean. Now, for the food. Please!!!! No peanut or ginger dressing for salads. The miso is just broth. No tofu. No seaweed. No nothing. The hibachi meats are thick with an overly sweet sauce. The sushi is overpriced but at least it's good. I realize it's Kentucky, but this place needs to at least try . . . It seems like they just gave up and are not even trying to fake Japanese cuisine.

Our second visit to Yamato was as good as the previous. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The food, for take-out, was very good and plentiful. We will stop here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Berea.

We were traveling through and decided to eat at Yamato on Wednesday Sept 4. The meal was great and our server, Tina, was awesome. So today, Sept 7, as we are traveling back through, I came to get take out. The female at the cash register, Shady, was rude. Extremely. She informed me they did not have plastic forks only spoons. I asked how do I eat my meal without a fork. I asked if I could have two silverware forks. She said no. I said, so my choice is to go somewhere else, take my business from here or eat with a spoon. She said Yes. The owner came and asked what the problem was and gave me two forks. I said to her, you need to learn about customer service. She, Shady, informed me that I needed to not piss her off.
Too bad, the food is great.

They have a wide variety of items on there menu something for everyone to choose from. Staff is very helpful explaining what items are and if you enjoy sushi they have a nice selection. Will be back reasonable price and good service.

Not much to look at, and the beer list is lame, but both food and service were quite good. Fresh ingredients, professionally prepared. We love hibachi cooking, preferably prepared in front of you. But this was done in the kitchen and served fast and hot. Prices seemed very reasonable.

Wasn't very busy and had second thoughts when we entered. In fact, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Food was quite good, however. Probably will visit again.

Looks may be deceiving at this old Taco Tico Building, Inside the place was super cute and clean, The bento box I ordered was delicious fried rice was really fried to order. The Tempura & sushi roll was awesome. A really fun find in this small community and right off the I-75 exit

We were traveling to Berea and visited Yamato for dinner. We got the Sushi Regular dish, which had ample sushi as well as California rolls. The owner was very friendly and chatted with us, welcoming us to Berea. The waiter was a hard-working, nice young man. We left amply filled with sushi, believe me! The portions were generous, and our meal came with good miso soup and a salad. The atmosphere was quiet and friendly. Yamato is a little hard to see because it's set back from the road, so keep your eyes open for it. You'll love the food and the staff. Highly recommended!
