We had one of the best dinners of our lives at Kurtz a few years ago on a trip to Bardstown to explore the Bourbon Trail. Absolutely classic fried chicken, country ham, all the fixins. This is down-home, unpretentious food that's so good you just don't want dinner to end. They do have limited hours and close for at least... More

We brought a large family group here and enjoyed it very much, everything was homemade , served hot and tasted like real Kentucky cooking ! We enjoyed taking to the original owner's daughter and sat near a fireplace that added to the cozy, delicious experience.

Quality food and service! Would love to go again sometime! Right across the road from My Old Kentucky Home. Loved the fireplace and cozy atmosphere! Great for families!

We only have time for 1 meal in Bardstown and after reading some trip advisor reviews my party settled on Kurtz. The menu had a decent variety of items to choose from but prices were reasonable but I was really expecting a couple dollars cheaper on some dishes. To start out the meal you are served a basket of fresh... More

First time visit to this charming restaurant. I had the Hot Roast Beef and my husband had the Ruben. The roast beef came with the creamiest mash potatoes I have ever had(delish) covered in a wonderful gravy. The beef was tender and the white bread took me back to my childhood. A taste of my husbands Ruben confirmed that this... More

While it is not 100% my favorite place, my travelmate adores this place. The food is authentic and home made, prices reasonable, staff attentive. Good sweet tea and the best pies in the entire state :-) You really have to stop in, if for no other reason than desert.

Sunday afternoon backroads from Louisville to Bardstown in the fall is breathtaking. Kurtz Restaurant was our destination. Loved the stone house as soon as we pulled up. It was 39 degrees outside; so being seated at a white cloth covered table for two by the fireplace was perfect. Very nice waitress, Kendra made us feel right at home with sweet... More

The best food that we have had in a very long time. The atmosphere, the owners, staff, and the food were incredible and we will go back again and again...

After a nature hike at Bernheim Forrest we decided to grab a bite in historic Bardstown. We hadn't been to Kurtz Restaurant in years but was treated to excellent service and a good home cooked meal. My wife opted for their fried chicken dinner while I ended up with one of their specials-turkey/dressing( mashed potatoes, too)with country ham. Mine came... More

My wife and I had dinner at Kurtz's this evening and were reminded of just how fantastic the food is. I had skillet fried chicken and my wife had chicken livers and both were superb. We have eaten at this family owned and operated restaurant several times over the years and have always been pleased with the excellent service and... More
