This charming restaurant is a delightful start to anyones day. You walk through the front door and you are home. The breakfast delicious, especially the homemade biscuit. We indulged in a treat from the bakery before we heading out. Margaret was so friendly and attentive....I would highly recommended this place (and town) as a destination or stop if your in the surrounding areaMore

Visited Wamego to see the Oz museum And stumbled upon this friendly charming place after a walk round the beautiful park. We sat on the verandah and ate delicious goodies from the bakery - warmed cinnamon roll and strawberry kolache. But there is also a...tasty varied lunch menu.More

We visited Wamego to see the Oz Museum. It didn’t open until 10am so we walked down the yellow brick road and it lead to this great bakery and restaurant. Margaret provided great service and gave us some tips for things to see in the...area. We tried the yummy Bierocks, Eggs and French Toast. Everything was cooked perfectly. We also did some take out pastries which were delicious. Highly Recommend a stop for breakfast or lunch.More

What a wonderful find! If you are traveling on 70 and need some delicious breakfast, lunch or bakery goods - take the Wamego exit and go to the Friendship House! Margaret (Silver Fox) was the most gracious waitress. Our breakfast, our Peanut Butter roll and...the staff were outstanding!More

We had lunch here (lovely atmosphere in this older home converted to restaurant) after the Oz Museum--mushroom/swiss burger for my husband; tuna salad sandwich with soup for me. No complaints about the food. Also, bought pastries and cookies to go. But the best thing about...this restaurant is Margaret, our waitress--a spry, very knowledgeable and friendly octogenarian! Not only is Margaret willing to share her knowledge about the town, but also about herself. She asked where we were from and then told us where she was from. We discovered that we knew and were related to the same people from Wisconsin so many years ago! Margaret, thank you for making our lunch time so enjoyable! "Follow the yellow brick road...." to the Friendship House!More

Just follow the Yellow Brick Road right to the Friendship House! Food was amazing and Margret our waitress was the best waitress I have ever had! She should be named as community ambassador for Wamego! I had the Cabbage Cheese Soup and it was simply...delicious!! Hit the spot on a chilly day down the yellow brick road. For dessert I had Custard Pie, and it transported me back to my childhood day’s and the ol’ farm on which my momma’s made me egg custard pie. The Friendship House and beautiful Wamego are definitely worth the journey!! And don’t leave without the cookies!!More

Had my first ever Bierock (beer-ock) and aside from it being smaller than expected, it was really good. Make sure you get the horseradish sauce with it. The Belgian waffle with blueberries and whip was pretty amazing. Good coffee, tiny cups so prepare to ask...for refills. The biscuits & gravy portion is large, tons of sausage gravy, but needed a little salt. Super friendly older waitress was funny and did a really good job. If you're in the area and they're open, I recommend stopping by.More

We were in the area for a Kansas State graduation. We went there for breakfast and can not begin to tell you how wonderful our experience was. The menu is diverse with something for everyone. The atmosphere is homey, friendly and so welcoming. The food...was delicious and everything is fresh. The owner makes you feel so welcome. The best part of the whole experience was our waitress, Margaret. She was warm, friendly, and so accomodating. If you are in the area, you definitely have to make this one of your stops.More

We noticed the sign for this restaurant near the "Yellow Brick Road", so we walked down and bought a cookie for the ride to our next destination. There was a good selection. Prices were reasonable.

We were on cross country drive and were staying in Manhattan Ks at the konza cabin. My wife has always been big fan of Wizard of Oz movie so when she heard of the Oz museum in wamego we added it to our go to...places. Manhattan Ks to Wamego was a short drive of maybe 25 minutes. The museum was great fun! Afterwords we noticed a beautiful alleyway with name “yellow brick road” so we took it 😊 and discovered the Friendship House restaurant. Refurbished old home very close to a nice park. We were greeted like long time customers and settled in. That is when things got really interesting. Our server Margaret came by and it was just like seeing a long lost aunt. She was so kind and helpful. She regaled us on the history of the town and the Oz connection. E loved every minute spent with her. What a great representative of this town! My wife ordered chicken soup and i had tuna melt. We both rated the lunch 5 of 5 for freshness and taste. We promised Margaret we would remember the town, the friendship house and her. Promise kept Margaret 😊 If you pass through this area give this restaurant a try, and take with you some of their fresh made bakery items.More
