The building is a little run down and the interior doesn't look like much, but this place is absolutely delightful. The staff is friendly and explained some of the more unique menu items. The pupusas are delicious and the cole slaw salad is really light...and fresh. Tried fried plantains and yucca and a pork tamale. Yum!More
Most people probably pass this place and not think to stop but they are missing out! Great prices. Great service. The food is incredible. Pupusas are the way to go. Highly recommend to stop in and give it a try!
El Pulgarcito is an awesome Salvadorean restaurant serving affordable and fresh made food. The place is not much to look at but the food is fantastic. Parking space is limited and the lot is pretty pot-holed, but if one can excuse these, then a pleasant...surprise awaits inside. The dining room is so open, well lighted that it has an inviting atmosphere. The hall is well decorated and furnished adequately. The staff at the order counter is very friendly and helpful explaining the items on the menu. Customers place the order and wait to be called when the food is ready. At the counter they also have some food items prepared in the restaurant for sale. I had my order made for carry out, and all items were packaged well. The Chicken Pupusa was so delicious, and the Pork Postelitos were just superb. The dipping sauces served with the two items were spiced perfect. El Pulgarcito deserves many many repeat visits, even just for all their Pupusas.More
Don't be fooled when you pull up on this restaurant. The building looks a little dumpy, but the food and service here will delight you. Delicious, authentic Salvadorean food is served in a fast and friendly fashion. We had 4 different menu items and they...were all mouth waveringly great. You really can't go wrong. We were so glad we gave this restaurant a try.More
Nothing fancy but wonderful food.....you can make a meal with the pupusas and not spend $12.(That would be 4 of them.)....best tamale ever.....Only beer no wine.
A friend brought me here. A very basic hole in the wall type of place with stellar food! The pap Usaa were terrific and the creamy chicken was great too
This place was amazing. Had the horchata, zucchini and cheese papusa (get one, they have a variety of delicious flavors) milk empanada, and elote and pork tamales. It's so out of the norm for what chain restaurants you normally find that it was a great...food adventure. Service was gracious and you can eat well for pretty cheap. Ate at lunch and despite a full house, we got in and out fairly quickly.More
We ordered a variety of foods off their menus -- the prices are very modest, so you can get a lot of food without paying too much. Our favorites were the papusas and the tacos. The fried plantains were good also. The carne asada steak...meal had excellent flavor, but the steak was a little tough. We will return for another meal the next time we are in the area to go to Ikea.More
This restaurant is my only experience with Salvadoran food - and it's delicious. Friendly service in a modest diner-style dining room. Parking in front and in the back. They take ApplePay! I usually make a meal of several appetizers, which offer a variety of textures...and flavors. Here's my usual: To drink, Tamarindo, a sweet and tart tamarind "lemonade." Horchata is also available, as well as Cashew drink, coffee, and standard soft drinks. Often the first item to come out is a shredded cabbage slaw with a vinegar dressing that's on the spicy side. It's crunchy and tasty, but spicy enough that I chase it with another item. Sweet, sautéed plantains taste like fried bananas and are served with crema. The smoothest, most flavorful refried beans ever are on the side. Hot, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside fried Yuca ... imagine giant, lighter and crunchier french fries served with a thin tomato sauce. Also a star, chunks of crispy Pork garnish this - a fantastic combination. Finally, a cheese Papusa - like the tastiest quesadilla you've ever had, except much better. A variety of fillings are available. That list is a hearty meal for two when we go. And we don't get to go enough. It's usually at lunch on a weekend, and though it's busy, it never takes long to get a table. Try it for a different treat!More
I've tried a few different El Salvador restaurants in the area and El Pulgarcito ranks high on my list. I came after work and was seated right away. Pupusas are a must! I ordered a few different ones off the menu and they were fantastic....Oddly enough, I think the Spinach and Cheese one was my favorite. I ordered the Pollo en Creme. The chicken was flavorful and the sauce was brilliant, it was a great meal! Come hungry and order pupusas as an appetizer! Service was friendly and I greatly enjoyed my meal.More
It was very clear that a lot pride is taken in preparing the food in this restaurant. The service was great and they answered all of our questions with a smile. They checked on us frequently to see how we were doing. Very friendly atmosphere....We will definitely go again.More
I met family for lunch here and we had quite a mixed group of food preferences. Even the pickiest of us found something on the menu. I had the chicken soup and could have eaten it all day - excellent! The place was clean (but...loud) and the waitstaff courteous and as prompt as they could be with the Sunday lunch crush. We will definitely be repeat customers.More
Nice to see them open again. The remodeling isn't jarring, but it certainly looks clean, spacious, and bright. Had an espinaca y queso pupusa, along with some nice, spicy curtido for an appetizer, followed by a main course of guisado de res, stewed beef with...potatoes and carrots. All delicious. The wait staff was very helpful and friendly.More
LOVE this Place. Unfortunately they have been closed for almost a year, for "remodeling". Not sure what is going on. they stated on Facebook about 2 months ago, they were almost ready to open and waiting on inspections? Best Papusas and Tamales I've ever had......and their cabbage mix is the BestMore
