I have no clue what some of the other reviewers are talking about! I have been born and raised in Koog aan de Zaan, familiar with all other restaurants in the area, the local standard. I have had dining experiences spanning 5 continents of the globe! This is an excellent restaurant, not just for a small town, but by any... More

Restaurant is in the koog de zaan area, close to the Olam Cocoa factory. It is beautiful restaurant with a stylish and sort of dock looking interior. Energetic and friendly staffs. We choose a 3 course meal. I wasn't impressed with the started, and the fish main course was good, and an excellent dessert.

The name of the restaurant refers to the Japanese word "umami"; a savory taste. It is one of the five basic tastes (together with sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness). We had a 3 cours menu. The portions were good and the food was nice.

Last week we had a diner in your place and we were very disappointed with the quality of the food. it was not busy, so that can not be the excuse.

Beautiful restaurant, stylish interior. A warm welcome from the lovely staff. We chose the 3 cours menu and that was a great choice, all courses were tasty, from the first to the last. And this accompanied by excellent wines. We Belgians will definitely return!

The food, service and ambiance were all reflective of the best of the region, and our meeting was enhanced by the setting. Dinner afterwards included a good selection of wine as well as the flaming creme brûlée. Definitely worth the trip.

Our large group was nicely placed upstairs in two adjacent and connected rooms, which worked perfectly. The menu was pre-arranged with nice seasonal meats and vegetables. Our international guest liked this very much. The service was attentive but holding back as should be with a group. The restaurant downstairs is traditionally decorated which is also appreciated by international visitors but... More
