A great restaurant and lounge. Bar is separated from the dining room but you can eat in both. Very good food and service. A too notch old school place with excellent food and service. I will defiantly return soon

Southeast Kansas is known for its fried chicken and Barto’s is one of the best. The onion rings are good. Prices are extremely reasonable. Much of the food here is fried, so be prepared.

Absolutely horrible experience. Waited forever for someone to wait on us, even longer for the drinks. Finally she returned to take our food order. 75 minutes later we received mediocre food. Chicken lacked flavor. Sides were below average. We never saw our waitress again. No drink refills or anything. My husband went to the bar and asked for a ticket or how to pay. The restaurant was about half full so not that they were overwhelming busy. Can honestly say this is one place we will never return to. Don’t waste your time. Go to one of the other local chicken restaurants if you want a great meal with prompt service. Total time spent trying to have an enjoyable meal was 2 hours and 20 minutes.

We ordered fried chicken dinners at 4:30 pm on a Thursday. Chicken looked & tasted like it was breaded in corn flake crumbs. Baked potato substitution I paid an extra $1.50 for was barely warm, had a gummy consistency, like it had been in the warmer for hours. The livers & gizzards tasted like they were ready to go bad. Prices were high for what was served. Go to Chicken Annie's instead.

There are a lot of chicken places in this area. Don’t waste your time with this one. The atmosphere was plain and so was the food. It was served hot but that’s about all I can say nice about the place. It didn’t have any flavor. The French fries were soggy. The waitress wasn’t friendly. We won’t be back.

this is the best chicken you will get in america. All the chicken places near by come in second and they are all well deserved but this is the top. Every where else is amazing, but this is THE BEST!

One of the best places for fried chicken anywhere and I have been to many places across the country. Love to go there on the weekend when they have a live band. Great staff. Might have to wait sometime but it is worth the wait.

I gave Barto’s Chicken 3 tries Within about 6 weeks. I tried the chicken and it was ok but not anything special. Tried the onion rings. They were ok also. I tried the burger. Ok. Potato salad. Ok.
I know Barto’s has been in Frontenac for many decades and I guess enough people like it to keep it going. It just wasn’t anything special for me. I can get better food other places. Probably won’t go back a fourth time.

One thing Southeast Kansas is famous for is fried chicken and nobody does it better than Bartos! Come on a Friday night for great food, live polka music, good beverages and great people. They also have great steaks.

The décor is still in the 1970s but the food is fabulous. We started with onion rings then had fried chicken with german slaw and potatoes. The chicken is a light coated fried chicken as opposed to so many that the coating is so thick you can't taste the chicken. Best cole slaw I have had. It's only open evenings but if you are in the Pittsburg Kansas area it is worth going to.

Have heard about Barto's for years and finally made the trip to give it a try. Older building & decor that is family owned & operated since 1951. Felt like I was visiting Grandmas. Food was good. We were provided a basket of sourdough bread while we looked at the menu which had a wide range of options but we wanted to try their chicken as that's what was continuously going out the door bucket after bucket. Onion rings were light & crispy, not greasy. Fried chicken had thick, crispy breading while meat was moist & savory. German Potato salad & German cole slaw sides were good basic fare. Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Prices were very reasonable especially for the amount of food we got.

This place has been around since the early 1900's it has evolved to one of the local fun spots in Southeast Kansas. Don't let the name fool you, their specialty is fried chicken. Everything on the menu is good but the chicken is as good as you can get. Their unique blend of seasonings makes it the best around. This family owned place has been around for generations and has a reputation far and wide.
Friday and Saturday nights include live music and dancing. It could be country or the oldies but none of that extra loud extreme rock crap in this place. You will probably share the dance floor with age 70's or beyond or a couple of 6 year olds trying to emulate what the see around them.
I guarantee this place is fun for all ages.
