When in Pittsburg at least one meal involving fried chicken is mandatory. We stopped in on a Saturday evening at Pichler's which I hadn't visited in probably 30 years. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated immediately. There is nothing fancy about this place: decor is diner with chicken kitsch; your bread plate is styrofoam; and the meal is served on a divided melmac plate. They had one waitress taking care of a large room of people but she was very efficient and drinks out and our order taken in little time. We had fried chicken, the garlic slaw and "German" potato salad. The slaw is very garlicy but good. The potato salad is served cold and the only "German" thing about it is the vinegar. The chicken was fresh and hot, and though we did not wait all that long we were all given an extra piece on the house. When I say the chicken was hot, I mean after sitting on the table for 10 minutes you still had to be careful not to burn yourself hot. I'm not complaining as chicken which hasn't sat under a warmer is much preferred. The chicken was moist and delicious without being greasy. Their batter is pretty basic so if you like a batter that is spicy this is not your place. It was a good solid meal and we will return next time we are in the Pittsburg area.

met family here while passing through. Not very busy for a cold tuesday evening. Only had one server, but there were at least 5 tables occupied. Server checked on us constantly, even though she was the only one! Food came out with great portions! the german cole slaw was fantastic! Got more than my fill, and had to get to-go box for my wife. While the menu is limited... chicken is their specialty and they do it well!

This one is my favorite. Their food tends to have a lot of garlic and it’s fabulous. Service is always friendly. The slaw is the best!

Because of the chicken, which is very good, but not as good as Bardo’s, this place gets 2 stars. German potato salad was ok, onion strings were good, creamy Cole slaw was very good. Spaghetti was ok. Our server was efficient. But as we began to eat she turned on the vacuum cleaner and ran it for over 5 minutes. We had to stop talking. As I paid, I suggested to the cashier as I still left a good tip that they might want to consider not running the vacuum while people were eating. I then received a lecture on that fine line between customers who don’t like noise vs customers who don’t like a dirty floor. We’ll go to Bardo’s next time!

First, the service was excellent, which accounts for the 2 stars. The food was reminescent of school cafateria offerings. I love German potato salad and order it at every opportunity, but have obviously never been to the region of Germany that serves it as cold, overboiled potatoes dressed with vinegar and chopped raw onions. The chicken is battered, not breaded. I should have asked, though once past that, the meat was tender and juicy. Hubby had spaghetti with meatballs. It was cold.

Can’t say enough about this chicken. It’s moist and flavorful. We also took an order home with us for dinner tomorrow. Anytime we are in Southeast Kansas we make a stop for their chicken.

I visited on Sunday March 3 with my daughter and her family. We ordered family style for four and it was exactly what we needed. A family of four can eat for $40 if you get drinks too and probably still have some leftovers to take home. The onion rings are literally the best you’ll get anywhere. This is not a fancy place. It’s crowded, noisy, you may be seated next to a party of twenty, but the atmosphere is not the draw. It’s all about the chicken. And the onion rings. If you’ve never been to Pichler’s, you’re missing out on some great chicken.

We always stop here in when in town. Love everything we order, especially the garlic coleslaw!! The onion rings and chicken are also very good. We always take home several bottles of the slaw and potato salad dressing back with us to Texas.

Chicken was fine. Spaghetti was fine. Sides were fine. Price was good. Service was good. I wouldn't make a special trip, but I would eat there again if I was in the immediate area. I liked Annie's better than the other chicken place that starts with "M." I gave that place 3 stars. This place is a 3.5. Better than average, definitely good, although I wouldn't say "very."

We were in the Pittsburg, KS area for a funeral and stumbled across this Chicken Annie's. The food was solid and our waitress was very helpful. She even brought my wife a sample of the baked beans! The portion sizes were very large and prices were reasonable.

We used Chicken Annie’s to cater our wedding. They have several options for pieces of chicken and sides at about half the cost of all other catering companies! They delivered to Joplin, MO for a low fee and all of our guests loved it, many out of town guests had never had it before.

We like to get the Chicken dinner for 2, served Family style. The servings are generous, and we usually have 2-3 take home boxes left over. The service is prompt and friendly. Management is usually there at the cash register. They include a complimentary serving of onion rings with the order, which is a nice touch. My favorite is the side of mashed potatoes and chicken gravy. We have never had a bad experience. One suggestion would be to occasionally scrub the table tops. I noticed last week that they were not squeaky clean.

I was born and bred in the Midwest. Sunday afternoon, after Church , you had fried chicken. You may have green beans. You may have corn. But you always had fried chicken. This place serves fried chicken like every Sunday of my life for the first 18 years. It is very good , not fancy, just good. I always make it a point to stop and eat a meal from my childhood each time I go through Pittsburg, KS.
