Met a friend from the area at Chicken Annie's on a Wednesday night. Was pretty quiet when we first walked in, but got a bit busier while we were there. Chicken was pretty good, nothing I would have made a special trip for. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She explained that spaghetti (noodles and sauce) was a common... More

This Austrian family that came to the area to mine coal in the early 1900's went into the restaurant business as a result of a serious mine accident that left the husband crippled. Starting to earn money for the struggling family, Annie and hubby started making "home brew beer" for the miners. After listening to miners asking for some home... More

I love fried chicken and have always heard about Chicken Annie's and decided to give them a try during a busy Sunday lunch time. The restaurant is a large open area with lots of nick nack type decor. The staff was friendly and we were promptly seated and our order placed. As far as the food, I can only give... More

First the good news. It's cheap, and the chicken you order, the cheaper it gets. The family that runs the restaurant and their kids who are the waiter staff are so very social and interactive. They exude personality and friendliness. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very nice. You will be seated in a huge area with farm-themed decor. There... More

Very fun place. The fried chicken is every bit as good as my mom made when I was a kid. And the price was very good. I have paid more for far worse. The hostess was engaging. The atmosphere was comfortable: this is not "fine dining $", just good food at a good price.

On our way home from Branson we stopped at Annie's Original for Sunday lunch. It's off the beaten path - even for those in Ft. Scott or Pittsburg - but if you are in the area I highly recommend them. Their portions are large, their chicken moist and delicious, the sides unique and tasty (I highly suggest the German slaw... More

It actually was a trip down a three and half mile lane from the highway to the Original Chicken Annie's. I ate chicken at this restaurant as a boy back in the 50's through the 70's with my grandparents. When we first started going, they served the chicken out of a house and you waited to be called in your... More

Chicken Annie's came highly recommended from a friend. It did not disappoint! really good friend chicken. The German coleslaw was outstanding. I could have made myself sick on the stuff. Service was top notch. The prices were very reasonable.

I understand the hype of these fried chicken houses in this area, but for people that were not born and raised on this grease chicken, do not like these old 70s, cafeteria style eating. I know they do a great business and who am I to give it a bad review? I am someone with a better palate in taste... More

Great place to get a Delicious Chicken Dinner. Large place with very friendly staff to greet you. Quick service and a wonderful meal. Side dishes are both German and American. Both are good. The German is heavy on vinegar base it is good just know what to expect. Hot fresh chicken dinner. Served with a wonderful bread. Very reasonable price... More
