Looking for a place to eat where locals gather out in farm country. This was it! Not fancy. Large menu. Something for everyone. Great slaw! Grilled shrimp plate with sweet potato fries was very good.
Saw the good reviews on TA and thought it was worth the drive down from Marion. Glad we did it. Nice little rural tavern. Great service. Wife had the Hellbilly Fire Burger, and she said it was one the best ever. I had country fried...steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. Really good. Only disappointment was they were sold out of desserts, but I didn’t need it anyway.More
I really love this place. Small and hometown. The food is very, very good. Sometimes I just stop by for a beer too.
Good food! Not just out of a freezer box, but actual cooked from ‘scratch’ kind of food! A nice variety for all tastes! I had the catfish special w/ sweet potato fries and green beans. Hubby had the hamburger steak w/ mushrooms and peppers and...waffle fries. Very tasty!More
The Coneburg is a flash from the past bar with simple, rustic styling. The building looks a bit shabby, both inside and out, but clean. Don't let that stop you. Don't go there for the beer selection; on tap was Bud Light, PBR and a...third that had run out. I'm a wine drinker, somewhat snobby, but not in a place like this. I ordered a Chardonnay and got a large pour of what they had on hand. We went there for dinner, not beverages. I am not remembering the creative names for their sandwiches. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and hubby ordered one of their pork sandwiches. The grilled chicken was seasoned, cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. They hand cut their fries; I asked for them well done (as I always do), and they were excellent. Homemade french fries can't be beat! Hubby devoured the pork sandwich, which was also beautifully plated. When I told the server about how well my chicken was cooked, she thanked me and told me that she had trained her younger brother. Hubby ordered a "curly" pork sandwich...it, too,was beautifully plated, and he devoured the whole thing. Service was great. Our time in Marion County, Kansas is short (a genealogy research trip), but we will return before we leave.More
You might drive up to this and think you've made a mistake..... Park your car and go in and experience the local atmosphere of this grill and pub! Make sure you try the Margarita and the Blue Island Tea.... Food was excellent too!
We hadn't been to the Coneburg in quite awhile so for a change we headed over and we were not disappointed! We were greeted and seated right away. My husband and I both ordered the special which was steak with two sides. My husband had...mashed potatoes and green beans and I opted for the Brussels sprouts and green beans. I was wishing I had gotten both sides brussel sprouts as they were heavenly! They had been roasted and were so delicious!!! Our son had the fried cheese curds for an appetizer (very good) the fish and it was massive and tasty. Our dinners were $22 per meal while the fish was more like $10. Well worth it considering we did not have to drive to Wichita or Newton! It's got a fun vibe and a personable staff. I recommend checking it out and order the brussel sprouts if they have them!!More
The Coneburg Inn is everything a road weary traveler looks for in a place to get off the road for a bit. The atmosphere is friendly. The decor a comfortable shabby Chic that highlights the owners love of music. The drinks are well made and...the burgers are top notch. If Roman is behind the counter expect efficient service and a friendly smile. He is what made our visit truly memoriable.More
We went to the Coneburg from a recommendation from friends. It's about a 45 minute drive for us. The atmosphere is very down home and relaxed, with old ads, beer signs, a pool table, juke box, and bar. Their menu was quite unexpected - a...bit of everything for all tastes. I had a couple PBRs (on tap) and the mountain oysters with salad bar and onion rings. Everything at our table was fresh, top quality, and priced reasonably. The owner was super friendly as well. We will definately be coming back!More
Good Food--meat was wonderful. waitress was friendly and helpful in ordering the food nice to know the meat comes from the area
Shared a booth with two friends and we each had a different meal. We pronounced them all excellent! Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, Fried green beans with ranch dip for appetizer and fried okra - what more could you ask for?
Very good meal at a out of the way bar. Just off highway 50. Nice little town to look around and explore. Was here on a late Sunday afternoon for a bite to eat. Had a wonderful hamburger with pulled pork and jalapenos. Very good....Our group ordered fried pickles and also fired jalapenos as a appetizer. I don't usually like fried pickles but these are very good. Service was a little slow but it was just one waitress. Will definitely be back for another meal or just drinks.More
Never underestimate what you'll find in a small town tavern in Kansas! Just off U.S. 50 Highway, in a blue tin building is a treasure of culinary delight! A place to go back to again and again! Lindsey, her staff, the locals, the food and...drinks are waiting to welcome you to the best of small town flavor! They had me the first time with the high, HIGH stacked Reuben sandwich that was oh, so amazing with a side of hot frickles (fried pickles for those like me that didn't know). So delicious. The waitress came to check and casually mentioned that dessert that evening was a lemon cheesecake filling rolled in a tortilla, deep fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Hmmmmmm, I thought. YUMMMMM, I moaned! There was NO SHARING even though she'd brought extra spoons! I've made the trip back several times and never been disappointed. Fresh (Beef that comes from so close it could walk to the place!) Hamburgers, flaky catfish, fried green tomatoes, okra and mushrooms and dessert specials that leave you begging for more. In addition to the food this little piece of small town has happening entertainment with live bands and karaoke on special nights. Stop in and enjoy!More
Figured that this was the typical bar and grill with burgers and frozen sandwiches! Wrong answer! Delicious freshly prepared food that was not the average bar and grill food. Highly recommend the BLT topped with fried green tomatoes as well as the chicken fried steak...dinner. Friendly service and good prices. Will definitely come back!More
