Found this on the trip advisor and yelp app. Both ad mixed reviews, so we decided to just try it. We wanted authentic Italian food and we got it. Yes the place need some up dating, but expect from a family own restaurant vs chain....2 of us ordered lasagna (picture is one not cut and 1 cut to see layers), and 1 person ordered seafood Alfredo. We had good food and service. Only complaint is that I hate the paper straws.More

We had a get together with 10 of us on Saturday, September 25th. I was hesitant after reading a few of the reviews.....glad that I ignored them. Everyone's food was superb. Our waitress was fast, efficient, and an absolute hoot. The salad's were large with...crisp, chilled lettuce. The entree's were hot, tasty, and enormous. This was a real family owned place and not a run of the mill franchise.More

We come here once in a while. During COVID, we try to do takeout once a week to support local restaurants. This time I ordered by phone & picked it up. This place is not that close to home but worth the short trip. I...ordered chicken parm & for pasta, instead of the red sauce, I got garlic & oil. They do this better than most other Italian restaurants in town. All was delish ! My wife had eggplant parm & liked it very much. These dinners used to come with house salad, but not n ow. They said after they reopened after COVID, they dropped this as included. ordered 2 side salads because we like their salad & we want to continue to support them. Prices are a little higher now & dinners don't include salad.More

We came here on a busy night for dinner. The service was as good as always, even though it was super busy. The food was great.......as always. I had chicken parm - very good. I also requested the pasta side with garlic & oil, instead...of the usual red sauce. This place does it well. My wife had eggpant parm & liked it very much. Prices are average.More

We have been going to Cascone's restaurants for years. This one, just like the others, is getting more and more expensive. Plenty of ambiance, the food is good but not great, and the service is good.

We have been going to this restaurant for years. It was one of the best in the city Last time we went we were so unimpressed. The restaurant smelled of sewer, the waitress was not kind, the food seemed like it was packaged noodles and...sauce had no flavor. And the wine was from a box. Really Cascones? What happened to your good name and please update the restaurant from the 70'sMore

I guess I was thinking I was going to get good Italian food. Not impressed with it at all. Had the stuffed mushroom caps and they were lukewarm at best. Combo plate was not exciting either. Flavors not there and sent half a loaf of...bread with no garlic butter or even butter to go with it. Not going back here for Italian food again.More

We have been going to Johnny Cascone's since they opened. Like a lot of restaurants, we tended to go for other types of food for several years. We decided it was time to go back to an old favorite, and they did not disappoint us....We had Spedini Soto and it was excellent. One standard for Cascone' that is simply the best anywhere is their Calimari. Again, it did not disappoint on this visit. Overall, you can't beat the quality for the price at Cascone's.More

We almost turned around and left when we got in the door because of an overwhelming smell of a flooded basement men's room. Awful! However, we persisted even though we had to wait several minutes to be seated. They put us next to a large,...loud party even though we were clearly "date couple" material and there were multiple open booths in the restaurant. The food was quite good, but slow in getting to the table. Our server only had two other four tops but we were clearly her lowest priority. It is classic, old-timey Italian cuisine and really hits the mark on that point. My other half loved the chicken parm and my limonata was very good. We both took home leftovers that were even yummier the next day. This place is a favorite with other members of the family so I'm sure we'll be back. Service can be spotty on weeknights and that's okay. But the SMELL! Please FIX that!More

Good Italian food and generous portions. We really enjoyed the fried chicken and lasagna, and they have a nice wine selection. We did not care for the apple dumpling.

Great food as usual but server totally ignored us so she could focus on large group and potential bigger tip. Essentially very rude of her. New serving staff.

Once again we visited for grandmas birthday. Upon entering, the lobby smelled like sewer gas. The bathroom also smelled the same. That smell also traveled into the seating area. After a while you got over it. The service was fine. The food was fine. Nothing...special. I would not return but every year that is were grandma wants to goMore

Our party of 8 fully arrived on time, yet hostess wasn’t aware we had reservations. Then another host found our reservation filed under first name, not last name. They had us down as party of 6, but made arrangements to seat the party iof 8...we had actually made reservations for. Table service was “ok” until salads were served. One of our party wanted more dressing on salad but our waitress never returned for over 15 minutes. So, we finally flagged down another waitress and asked her if she could get us more dressing. She said ok but never returned to bring dressing. Yet we observed her continuing to serve other tables. Finally about 20 minutes after our salads had been served, we saw our waitress. She was asked to bring dressing and did. Then meals were served. A server carrying two plates asked who ordered white fish? My wife told him she ordered orange roughy so he set one plate in front of her and stated white fish is orange roughy. On the menu it stated “orange roughy” and that is what she ordered. The server then set the other plate of white fish in front of me. Since I did not order fish, I told him I did not order fish. He then tried to get others at our table to take the fish, but my wife was the only one that ordered fish. Our waitress arrived with other dishes and served them to those at our table. She then came to me and said “if you didn’t order fish, what did you order?” I told her I ordered Veal Limonata, and she then recalled that I had in fact ordered Veal. So she went to the kitchen and soon returned with my dish of Veal Limonata, stating that it had in fact been prepared for me but was sitting back in the kitchen. After dinner, the waitress asked my mom and dad if they wanted a refill on their coffees, but never asked any of the others at our table if they would like another drink or refill. Overall I would rate this experience as one of my worst all time. Service was quite poor.More

I recently dined at Johnny Cascone's in Overland Park, I called midday for a reservation at 7, which wasn't needed the place wasnt very busy on a Saturday evening. I ordered the bread and oil service for an appetizer, it was ok, in other Italian...restaurants the garlic in the olive oil is can usually be smashed to spread on the bread, this was just raw garlic in oil oil with some tart balsamic aftertaste. I ordered The Italian Flag, Chicken Parm, Alfredo Pasta and Lasagna, it was edible however it required lots of salt and pepper, the red sauce had absolutely no flavor at all. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Parm and it only had sauce on the chicken and all of the noodles underneath were dry! Would I dine at Cascone's again? NO. I'd go across the street to Cinzettis were they have seasoning in their food and its a buffet for 16.99 vs the 50 spot I coughed up for this retirement center food.More

They do have a bar, which is very nice, but no happy hour. They usually open at 4pm.
