We had driven by this place on a trip from Tulsa to Emporia a year ago. I'm in Emporia to visit again so we thought we'd give it a try. I got the 2 piece with fries and my friend got the chicken tenders. The meals are supposed to include coffee or tea but if you order a soft drink... More

This is a great family run restaurant. It is in the small town of Olpe, so don't expect a modern city experience. Do however expect some awesome fried chicken and great sides. Do not come here for the salad as it is a side compared to the huge juicy cooked to order chicken, great string fries, and awesome sides. As... More

My wife and I stopped in late Saturday afternoon. We each ordered a simple 2 piece chicken dinner with salad. Service was slow. The ice water tasted horrible! It was like garden hose water in the hot sun. Food was nothing special, chicken was decent, but nothing to "crow" about. Green Beans were artificial colored and I hesitated in eating... More

Decided to try this place as we have heard a lot of people say it's the best chicken around. The ambiance was nothing to brag about. The service was slow. And the prices were incredibly high for the amount of food you got! The chicken was good. But for the price I paid, I could have gotten a 16 piece... More

If you like fried chicken this is a must stop. This is an older no frills restaurant in a very small town, that feature fried chicken. No fast food here, you wait a full 20 minutes to get your order and it is worth it. The chicken dinner is offered as two or four piece, white, dark, or mixed along... More

These are the two specialties of the restaurant. The chicken fried steak was freshly prepared on site. Not the best I've ever had, but very good and a nice surprise in a small town in Kansas. French fries and gravy were excellent. Surprising that they had baked potatoes on a week day, but not mashed potatoes. You'll not regret a... More

They catered a recent funeral I attended and everything was delicious. In addition to their world famous ;-) fried chicken , the ham and scalloped potatoes were super yummy. The staff was very efficient and courteous.

Visiting Emporia and several people told me to go to the Chicken House Cafe and I was not disappointed! Wonderful fried chicken like my grandma used to make for summer picnics. I only wish they had not run out of pie! Worth the drive!

We went on a Friday night, around 7pm. The place was packed! The food was slow, but the waitress was friendly, attentive and kept checking on us. Once the chicken arrived, it was awesome! Well worth the wait and drive. The prices were surprisingly inexpensive for the quality and quantity of the meal. Salads are nothing more than chopped lettuce... More

It was good but not great. I wouldn't make a special trip for the chicken. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone
