I really like to eat here, I love the caldo de res, los chilaquiles and the street tacos. I highly recommend this place if you like authentic Mexican food.

I wanted food to go bc I worked late. And I’ve never had their tacos. So I called and asked if I could get them, meats etc, to go and they did me up rite. Kinda like 2 burritos instead of tacos. Fine cut steak...in small cubes. Didn’t taste yet. The family that runs the restaurant is spot on. We need more Mexicans like these people. They take pride in their business and I wish them success. PS: since I haven’t eaten them yet check back in a month for further info. But I have a good feeling it’s going to be fabulous.More

Wide variety of options. Gargantuan Cuban sandwich. Tacos are very tasty and service is quick. We tried a variety of dishes from tacos to enchiladas and were happy with everything we ordered. It’s muy authentico!!

I saw this place several times and finally decided to stop. I was glad I did!. The food was reasonable and some of the best Mexican I have had in the area. Easily the best in Olathe. I had the tamale dinner and my wife...the chili relleno. These were authentic, in the husk tamales. My wife thought her rellenos were great, but a little spicy. They have 4 salsas/sauces ranging from mild to pretty damn hot. They also have free pickled jalapenos and radishes. The beans with my meal were sublime. I would give it a five except for two drawbacks: 1. Plastic utensils, 2. the place needed updating.More

Great street tacos. Friendly service. I have been there 20 or more times and can't bring my self to get anything but tacos. Everything looks great. I'm going to try something else the next time I go.

The owner has painted the interior, put in all new tables, NICE large pots and plants outside. Frankly---its wonderful to see the entire family working there. Its the American dream my ancestors had--Come to America LEGALLY, work hard, obey the laws, rise in the world...Nothing new on the food--just an update that its looking less like a typical Mexico corner beanery and is cleaner, brighter and more pleasing to the EYE. Tacos $1 on Tuesdays. MWF there is a complete "combo" dinner for just $5.99 The owners daughters speak Spanish and English, both with no hint of accent.More

VERY much like the little stores in barrios en Mexico. Place is clean, the family is very well mannered, and the food is DELICIOUS. Fresh cooked so it takes a minute. Its worth the wait. Simple fare, and unlike the stereotyped HOT HOT Mexican food...its spicy but not HOT. And NOT Greasy Ordered Huevos Rancheros this morning--THREE eggs, each cooked perfectly and on a tortilla topped with fresh grilled peppers, onions and tomatoes. Light fluffy rice and tangy Frijoles Churros--eight bucks. DONT MISS IT!!!More

I eat here weekly (YUMMY!) so I feel a 2nd review is warranted. The word is getting out that El-Taco Miendo is the place to go when you want a tasty change from the chains. The food is good. The prices are reasonable. The owners...& their children are delightful. And the little quaint place is a welcome change from the chains that are taking over the suburbs. Located on S Parker St. (also known as HWY 7), El Taco-Miendo is just south of Santa Fe (aka 135th St.) Even though the lights & yellow paint are bright & sometimes I wish there was a bit more more ambiance, we always have a bright and cheery dining experience. With their location in a little shopping strip, the bright lights help the little place show up. There is a tv that is always on, but the family is quick to change it if asked (in the event that a show comes on that isn't suitable for little kids). We dine every week and are beginning to recognize other regulars. We love the new bakery that's been added! Grab a tray, some tongs, & select yummy pastries to try there or at home. We like the flat, crispy elephant ear type pastries that almost look like hearts. We love the chonchas (did I get that right?) They look like huge cookies. I also have a new favorite... the creme horn. I always ask the family's daughters to help me in my selection and they've never steered me wrong. We've been ordering typical mexican dishes like the combos, tacos (a little wet, but yummy), tamales, & tostados. But we noticed other regulars often choose a sandwich. My husband tried it & he's hooked! Whatever you choose, remember to ask for sauce. It's much thinner than what we're used to, but adds a good taste. Last night's tamales were just a teensy bit dry, but when I added sauce, they were perfect! The soups look yummy but I've never tried them. They seem to be popular, too. If you give it a try, chances are, we'll see you there. We can't stay away.More

Our family enjoys this little restaurant. It may be little, but it's big on taste. Great Tamales! And I love the nachos, but find them to be a bit too spicy. I ask them to tame the nachos for me & they're perfect. Huge portion,...too. I also enjoy the tostados. They crumble & are totally worth eating with a fork. My son loves the soft tacos, but they're a bit wet for me. We all love the refried beans & it cost little to nothing to add them. Great value! Friendly owners & staff. Appears to be family owned & the family is super nice.More

We've eaten at El Taco-Miendo 3 or 4 times. My favorites are the tamales (less than $2 each, I think) and the tostada. Note, you'll need a fork for the tostada. It'll crumble in your hands, and you'll be happy to scoop it up with...a fork. So yummy! The beans are good & only 35 cents. My kids love the rice, but give mixed reviews on the tacos. (They are the wetter version & a bit drippy.) Small scoops of ice cream are about $1.75. Caution: The Mexican popsicles are also $1.75, but many flavors aren't what they appear to be. One young worker warned us that some of the popsicle flavors are mismarked by the factory. Red cherry popsicle was actually CHILI ! Our kids have ordered popsicles every time, & have never eaten more than one or 2 bites. Stick to the hot foods! In talking to friendly customers around us (it's that kind of place) , we learned that many had traveled up to 20 miles to eat again at El Taco-Miendo. One family traveled from DeSoto. If you don't know what to order, ask those around you. It's a friendly place.More
