With the new ownership some of the food is better, and the interior has changed to be more of a cafe rather than a mix of funky old toys on the walls and some additional items for sale. While the sandwiches and salads are about what you would get anywhere, the cafe is handy when shopping downtown. It's still a... More

Wonderful Little Sandwich Shop. Under new ownership recently, but the sandwiches are still great and priced reasonably. A great place to hang out for a bit and chow-down. Stop by and enjoy.

We stopped in for lunch and was surprised to find Karen's had been sold. Originally the atmosphere was kinda cool with that coffee house/sandwiche feel. There was a small stage that was home to local talent. Now the "remodel" is dull and has no personality. The stage is still there but has a variety of junk piled on it. It... More

Went for lunch with my two kids and my parents. My kids loved that they served breakfast all day so they were able to get biscuit and gravy their fav! My parents and I got the Ruben and it was delicious. The decor was really neat. Great restaurant to relax and enjoy the food. Will go back!

I absolutely love Karen's Ruben. My friend always orders the pretzel sandwich. Casual atmosphere with good food!

Two coworkers and I came to Newton for a conference. Before it started we stopped at Karen's for lunch. It was a little dark inside, but food was good. Service was fast and friendly. One had a chicken wrap, which he said was really good. I had the black bean wrap (it's nice to have vegetarian options!) which was also... More

Good sandwiches, fast service, friendly staff. We've eaten here twice, and there's always a table of cops in the center during the lunch hour. Lots of locals eat here

Karen's can whip up one heck of a chicken sandwich on pretzel bun! They offer ice water at a little self serve station, and while a little on the pricy side, the nice dark little cafe has a ton of character, and i find it to be a fantastic place to spend my lunch hour, enjoying a sandwich and reading... This little cafe was a very pleasant place for lunch. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Too bad we didn't have a chance to try breakfast or coffee there, which also sounded excellent. We did have homemade carrot cake which was great! Total bill for two lunches was under $20. I will definitely be back.
