We patronize our local businesses, especially when there is ongoing street construction impeding access. Set ‘Em Up Jacks has a fun, welcoming environment to watch sports and have an ice cold beer and their food is consistently good at an affordable price point. Nice happy hour too! The Chicken Quesadilla was grilled well and thick with seasoned chicken breast meat and good toppings and dipping sauces. The Reuben was perfectly crispy rye marble bread with perfect ration of corned beef, kraut and cheese. We love their fries and pub chips. Great hangout. Excellent service with Julia S and rest of team, manager checked on us twice! Wonderful meal.

Sports bar that I would say is a great place if you want to watch pretty much any sporting event currently in progress as the walls are absolutely festooned with TVs all tuned to different sporting endeavours from Wimbledon to baseball.
I should declare that, unless I am specifically attending one of these establishments to view a particular sporting event (which is rare in itself) I don't really care for sports bars. I find them to be noisy (as this was, even at lunch time) and the TVs are distracting and in conversation one finds one's attention inexorably drawn to the screens even against one's will!
I was there with a friend and the noise was a little troublesome but the service was excellent; efficient, friendly and speedily delivered and the food was good too, although typical for what I expect as bar food. There was a good selection of beers (again as expected) and said beers were very reasonable. In fact, the lunch we had there was extremely reasonable - a meal and a beer for $11? That's a seriously good deal.
So - I would definitely come here again although the ambiance of sports bars is not my particular taste for catch ups with old friends as this was, but it is a large, well appointed place where I am sure you will have a good time.

We have been to this restaurant several times now. We really enjoy the food. The staff is always friendly. A few times they have messed up like putting jalapeños on a sandwich or adding cheese when asked to leave off but for the most part it can’t be beat. I love the onion straws and chips/salsa. The club and the twisted turkey club are my favorites. Plus they have some amazing cocktails!

Really good food. Loads of tv sets, one with a 23 ft. screen. Daily specials. Love the hamburgers and special french fries. Generally go at least once a week.

Six of us went, including a 7-yr old. Something on the menu for everyone and we all enjoyed it. Onion straws were excellent. Definitely sports bar atmosphere. The wait staff was efficient & friendly.

Set 'em Up Jacks is an East side Lawrence watering hole, sports bar, with really good food. I moved away from Lawrence in 2013 after retiring, and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Some of my best friends "ever," who live in Tulsa were in Lawrence this weekend to watch the KU vs OU Football game. Their hotel was really close to Set 'em Jacks, so they went last night and raved about their experience...and wanted us to go again tonight. So, after the game today, my wife and I agreed to join them for dinner. Our experience today was very good. My favorite is the chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and gravy, with a side of green beans. As always they did not disappoint. My friend, who was born in Germany ordered the pork tenderloin, which he referred to as a German "pork schnitzel." He said it was as good as any schnitzel he had ever had in Munich! K owing him as I do, I can only agree that it was as good as "schnitzels" in Germany! The other two in our party ordered the very traditional cheeseburger and fries...and both really liked their burgers. The place has many TV's on site, to the point of being able to watch sports in all and every direction one might choose to look! The reason Set 'em Up Jack's is a tradition... is that it has been in business for many years, serves really good bar food, is a fun place, and people go back again and again...and love the place.

This place is busy, but still service is quick. The Baja fish tacos and catfish fillets (go for two and not just one!) are fantastic.

Our server was terrific. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She steered us away from some things she didn’t like.
The big beer is an awesome idea. Huge beer mug with craft and tap beers.
The catfish was not fishy but not flavorful either. The cornmeal breading needs some pizzazz to help the fish.
Worth a visit.
PS The fries were really good too!

The subject line says it all. We came to watch the KU/Pitt State game and I ordered the strips. These are the best I've ever had!

My date and I ordered Ground Beef Nachos this evening during half price appetizers. Whatever was in the Nachos was NOT beef. I think it was ground turkey or worse. It was mushy, with no flavor and did not have the color of beef. I think they are using turkey to save money. NOT COOL. It was Disgusting, and I will never go back.

This is a nice local sports bar. This would be a great place to watch a basketball or football game. I had the chicken fried chicken. The mashed potatoes were tasty, but I could have used a few more. The spices used in the chicken breading were very flavorful. My wife had the fried catfish filet and the breading was also excellent. Plenty of food and very reasonable. My meal was $10 and my wife's around $11.

My family and I have eaten at Set'em Up Jack before but never for Wednesday 1/2 price wing night. This restaurant always has great food and drink specials throughout the week. A family can eat here at a reasonable price and it is a pretty good place to watch sporting events. Everytime before the food was average to better than average and the service was also.
Last night my wife and I ordered 2 different types of wings and 2 different flavors. My son ate the Lumber Jack Burger.
Let's start with his burger. It was cooked perfectly and the fries were seasoned and had a good taste to them. On Monday nights they have 1/2 price burgers. Great deal.
Now to my wife and my wings. I had the boneless and she had the bone in. Neither one were cooked very well. You could see pink and red in hers around the bone. Mine were room temperature at best. We politely told the waitress of our situation and a manager was there in a blink. They had no problem making up 2 new orders. They were both very hot whem they came out. So hot we couldn't eat them for awhile. Mine turned out fine but my wifes this time were overcooked to the point they were tough. We didn't say anymore. When the bill came the manager took off the price of one of the orders of wings. We did not expect that. Overall experience was ok and we will go back. Good time with the family

Had a group of 4 when we visited this restaurant for lunch. We were seated right away. Waitress brought us menus and mentioned lunch specials, a sandwich and fries for $5.00. Three of us had the pulled pork sandwich with the apple barbecue glaze. It was a very tasty combo with the glaze and pulled pork. We also received a huge amount of nicely seasoned fries.
