The food is fresh and made to order. Best Springfield Cashew Chicken and best egg rolls ever. The staff is really friendly.

This place is absolutely fantastic! Not a lot of room to eat in, but a lot of people were taking it to go. They have a variety of Rangoon’s including dessert flavors, homemade chicken and shrimp egg rolls and freshly made entrees. Everything was absolutely...delicious, but the favorite might have been the hit and sour soup. Made from scratch and delicious. Definitely give them a try.More
Excellent food and such a dynamic family-owned business. I went to college in Springfield MO and since the campus union was closed on Sunday we went to Gee's for Cashew Chicken. This family is related to Gee and they have the family recipe. Cashew Chicken...as is if I were back in Springfield, MO. All the dishes are excellent, you can't go wrong with Tao Tao. A must try heir strawberry cheesecake Rangoon.More
I'd been hearing about Tao Tao for some time on some of the Kansas City Food groups on Facebook. They are known for their "Springfield" style Cashew Chicken. As big fans of that dish, my wife and I decided to make the drive across town...to check them out for lunch. It was well worth it. The place is a little hole in the wall that I would have probably driven past if I had not been on a quest. There were two people running the place and they could not have been friendlier. And the food was great. The Cashew Chicken was the closest I've found to what we used to get in Springfield. It was a generous portion of breaded fried chicken chunks with an amazing sauce and plenty of cashews. We also tried the Crab Rangoons, which were also exceptional, along with the Hot & Sour soup, which was spicy and delicious, and the Egg Drop Soup, which my wife said she loved. We finished it off with a couple of Pork Egg-rolls which were also good. This is my new go-to for Chinese food, even with the 20 minute drive.More
Tucked away in KCK surrounded by Spanish-language businesses is this little Chinese place. Not the easiest place to find if you don't know it's there. But it's worth seeking out if you're a Springfield MO alumnus, as this is the place that most perfectly nails...the Springfield-style Cashew Chicken. Oh sure, some other places have it on the menu, and some are kind of close, but only here really nails it. And, as from time to time the craving hits you--and it will--there's at least somewhere to go. Also, it turns out the do rather good crab rangoons in different flavors, both sweet and savory. I've only tried the bacon jalapeno so far, but they were very tasty indeed.More
I have recently started enjoying curry. Why I hadn't known how wonderful it is, until now, is beyond me. I have been exploring new places to eat new dishes. I have known about this restaurant for awhile and finally ventured out to try it. I...was pleasantly suprised! It was different than the other chicken curry dishes that I have tried, but it was delicious! Give this place a try, I'm betting that you'll be making it a regular spot👍More
I ordered the Jalapeno Shrimp. They weren't flooded with customers, but had a fairly steady stream coming in. With that being said it took them entirely too long to get my order ready. Once your order is ready they will customarily show it to you...to make sure it's correct. I looked at it and the order-taker looked at it too questioning if those were really jalapenos. The chef assured us both they were jalapenos. It looked like green bell peppers, but I saw a jalapeno and figured they chopped up large jalapenos so I accepted the order. Once I got home and tasted the dish I discovered they mixed mostly bell peppers with a few jalapenos thrown in. They probably figured out they messed up the order and tried to disguise it by chopping up a few jalapenos and throwing them in at the last minute.More
The food was unbelievable! It was Hot and fresh! Full of Flavor.. the price to feed my family was affordable and beats fast food any day!
Our entire family loves Tao Tao, and we have been eating food from here for years. Even after moving to the suburbs long ago, we still trek back to downtown Kansas City, KS, to get some of Chef Annie's wonderful food. The appetizers are delicious,...affordable, and so much better than anyplace else. Her egg rolls are homemade, and the best in town. Also try the Crab Rangoons, Puff Chicken, and the Egg Drop Soup. The "crispies" Chef Annie includes with the soup are wonderful. Recently, they have added two new types of Rangoons, dessert or savory. We have tried and recommend the following dessert flavors: Strawberry Cheesecake, Peach Cobbler and Apple Pie. We also love the savory Buffalo Chicken Rangoons, too. These sell out quickly, and the flavors vary daily. Tao Tao, which means really busy, is a family run restaurant that has been here for decades. They make everything fresh to order. We have a long list that covers some of our favorite entries: Fried Rice, Garlic Beef, General Tao’s Chicken, Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, and Szechuan Beef. For soda pop drinkers, she has the widest selection of flavors we have ever seen, all served in chilled cans. Everything is served in "to go" styrofoam containers, although there is a little dining area. Expect to get really large portions for a small amount of money. They are not open on Sundays, but are open all the rest of the week. Ask about their lunch specials. Their hours are 11 am until 11 pm six days a week. We usually call our orders in before leaving home, and they are ready for pick up when we get there. Our entire family is happy when we get food here. Make yourself happy, too, and try it--you will not be disappointed. Tao Tao gets five big stars from us.More
I've gotten lunch to go from Tao Tao's a number of times. Their lunch prices are very low and the portions are huge. The quality of the food is better than average and is cooked upon your order, so it is fresh. It's a family-owned...restaurant and they always take the time to get to know their customers and personalize the service. I always ordered To-Go, so I don't know what it's like to eat at the restaurant.More
Food is good especially when Chef Annie cooks it....Eggrolls and combination fried rice. The Lo mein has nice fresh vegetables.
Agreed. Food here is pretty good and very cheap prices. You also get plenty of food from this tiny lady--I meant lots of food that is worth your money. Fresh made chinese and you actually see them cook it. However, it is not the best...place to dine in because space is small and tight. Order and go is great though. Highly recommend this place.More
I use to eat her often but over the years the quality and taste of the food has gone down hill. The portions are decent.
