Wife and I wanted to try a similar Mexican restaurant that was closed, which was fortunate because we accidentally found our way to Tacos El Matador. This unassuming little joint just earnved my "Favorite Taco" joint! Wife had the tamales which she ate without speaking...meaning (damn good). I had 4 different tacos, Pollo, asada, Camerones and Al pastor. Wow. Dense, flavorful and fresh. The hot salsa was smokey and was actually hot, but didn't need a snow cone to put out the flames. It was worth the 30+ minute drive and I'll do it again. CheersMore

Been going here for a long time, They got good food and the prices are good for what you get. Hardly any waiting, quick service. The sauces are great!

Everything is good. Some of the best sauces you will find in town - hot, mild and a verde. Free chips. Incredible street tacos. Very authentic. Super cheap.

One of my new favorite places for authentic Mexican street tacos. Typically I can eat at least 8 street tacos at most places. My first visit here I order an total of 6 to try a variety of their offerings. EVERY THING Was awesome!! Asada,...pastor, leguna- so good. Very flavorful. The tortillas were incredible as well. The tacos are piled high with meat - very generous. Well worth it. I was stuffed after six tacos. SO GOOD. IF you enjoy authentic street tacos you owe it to yourself to try this place. My only criticism was that they didn’t have cabeza tacos.More

We had three different meals and they were all excellent. The waitress was superb, friendly and helpful. A little out of the way but well worth the trip!

Some places skimp on the meat but here they do not. I got six tacos and a Gordita. I couldn’t finish it all! They had many options but Taco Tuesday’s I have to get some Tacos! It’s a small place but very popular. It’s kind...of like a mom and pop restaurant. Will have to try it again.More

I went two days in a row while working out here. The Pastor Tacos were excellent. Their Burrito was as well. The lady running the front counter was helpful and friendly. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

We came in here on a recent Saturday afternoon. It's a pretty unassuming little spot kind of sitting by itself. When you walk in it has a very family run type feeling. It's not fancy but it shouldn't be. My wife and I both ordered...a variety of tacos such as Carne Asada (grilled steak), Pastor (Marinated broiled pork), and Carnitas (braised/fried crispy pork) along with some rice and beans, some beer and horchata to drink. I've probably had tacos in over half of the Mexican restaurants in KC and in many, many other cities and these were excellent. I'd say equally as good as El Camino Real and better than Bonito Michoacan. There was easily enough filling for two tacos on each one and unlike Bonito Michoacan, which has more of the gristle and tough bits, this meat was choice. Very impressed for the price. Great value overall and I'll definitely go back.More

Having eaten there twice, I am pleased to see this great little place here on TA. Good mexican food is getting harder to find, as so many places are leaning towards cheese infested tex-mex. Finding the real street tacos I enjoyed so much in Mexico...City and the like is splendid. Prices are great, the salsas are fantastic. We will be eating here at least once a week.More

We've been back four times in two weeks, since finding this original Mexican Restaurant located in what looks like a former Taco Johns. Fresh original Mexican food with a great selection. Service is excellent and the prices are so reasonable. I think we're half way...through trying everything on the menu including the tongue tacos - Excellent.More
