We eat at Osaki every time we stay in Hays. The service is great! The sushi and rolls are great! The fish is so fresh and delicious with a beautiful presenation. The spider roll is a favorite as is the dinosaur roll. We also tried...the butterfly roll with perfectly smoked salmon. We really love the eel, yellow fish and snapper sushi. Try it all, you can't go wrong if looking for fresh, delicious sushi.More

A very nice surprise! Took a chance and found the food to be delicious, and the service excellent!! For sushi, we ordered the cooked roll combo, which was 3 rolls (18 pieces). We also ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box, and the lobster rangoon. Soup...came with the meals, and both the onion and miso soups were super tasty. I fact, EVERYTHING was excellent. We have always gone to a certain "trendier" place in town, but this was more traditional, and in my opinion, much better food. We shall return!More

We were in Hays on a Sunday night. My ussial travel spot was closed so we were forced to try something different. Not expecting much we choose Osaki. The exterior was not much to see when we pulled up. The first door led into a...dismal kind of space, however, once we went through the second doorway, we started the transformation from drab to nice. We were greeted and seated and asked for our drink orders. For a starter I choose the calamari. It was fried to perfection and very good. Dinner was a beef bento box for me and hibachi shrimp for my brother. The steak was flavorful and cooked medium. The box included tempera vegetables and othe items including little white gnocci things whose name I can't remember, but whose taste lingers on my tongue. The shrimp was very good and the Melissa was an excellent server. We had arrived early and there were not many people, but by the time we left the place was filling up. In post pandemic dining, patience is usually necesary, however, thete was no delayed wait and food was a very pleasant surprise.More

This was a spur of the moment dinner out. It's not fancy inside, but the food is authenic, tasty, and good sized portions. The server memorized our order and we had good service.

Seafood noodle soup - not spicy, could feed more than one person. California roll - nice portion size. Shrimp and vegetable tempura - very good.

nice place, interior is much better than the exterior. masks are required in Hays KS when I visited. restaurant offers dine-in and take out. cashier also took my order for i arrived in hays late and entered just before they were to close. unlike most..."Japanese" restaurants they offered tempera but it wasn't cooked on the table before you but in the kitchen. i ordered CK Udon noodles(thinker that regular noodles), gozas and steamed rice. all were good. i will visit again when I'm in the Hays area.More

Went here for dinner while traveling through Kansas. Staff wore masks. I called ahead and was told a reservation was not needed at that time due to the number of guests. I sat at the sushi bar alone. The sushi chef gave me amuse-bouche of...peppered tuna before my bento box arrived. The meal was great, very filling. Will definitely visit here again.More

I had the hibachi dinner and it was really good. I don’t think they have the hot table but for a small town the food was really good.

Food was good but green tea was really dark. We kept asking if it was green tea or regular & our waitress said yes.

We were traveling and happened to see sign from interstate. Easily found location and expected an OK meal since we were the only customers there. We were pleasantly surprised. Food was great and lots of folks arrived after we did.

Ok, so we ( my husband and myself) , are in this area regularly . Same goes for our concerted indecisive tendencies with places to eat / what to eat when there. Soo I called his bluff and pointed out this little gem when asked...where are we eating. Needless to say once the cuisine options began to sink in I thought I was gonna be dining alone and stopping at McD's to feed my companion. I have also neglected to mention we have never had sushi. ( the geography should easily explain that) We were pleasantly greeted as we approached. Also we were quite intrigued By the chic decor of this place. So to get to food here we go. The menu while easily deciphered without a translator left much to decide with an eclectic array of sushi and other Japanese dishes. I choose the Tiger roll. It was an excellent choice according to us.(we split it) it was the perfect amount and the pickled ginger and wasabi paste were amazing compliments to accent an elegantly presented and deliciously prepared meal. Bravo!More
