Every entre' is smoked to the best possible accomplishment. Checking the daily specials is recommended. Some people order their two sides to be the fried okra. This is must stop in place when travelling from KC to Wichita or vice-versa! Consistently the best in Kansas!

We stopped here at 2:00 on a Friday afternoon, and at this hour there were still 13 other customers busily eating lunch. We opted for a radically different and absolutely delicious take on the jalapeno popper, and a full bucket of wings with seasoned fries....The wings, smoked and then flash fried, are solid by themselves (smoky and moist), but you can choose no less than 5 different sides to go with them. We really like the garlic parmesan and sweet Asian ginger, which altered the flavor profile in enjoyable ways. The crisp fries complemented the wings nicely. For $20.16, there is great value here. It's definitely worth getting off the interstate and making the trip into town.More

We visited the restaurant with 3 of us and no waiting. The restaurant is cozy and friendly. The appetizer smoked chicken wings were incredible with citrus chipotle sauce. The burnt ends were very good as well as the cheesy potatoes. The sliced brisket didn't taste...like it was smoked so it was just ok. The rolls weren't homemade. Overall was a very good experience.More

Stopped into Bobby D’s on a Monday night for some burnt ends. They were good., bbq beans, & cheesy potatoes. I was impressed. The service was outstanding! The waitress recommended cobbler with ice cream and it was outstanding. I will be back the next time...through Emporia.More

Went to Bobby D's and was told the Prime Rib was the best. After questioning a 2 hour wait was told the prime rib was so thick it takes a long time to cook. When the plate came out it wasnt that thick and it...was terribly fatty. The owner came by and asked about our meal and when we said we had a 2 hour wait and it was fatty we were told that the waitress lost our order ????? So sorry, here is a free dessert. That is the last time I went there.More

Another local favorite. This small restaurant packs the people in literally. Known for there bbq and mounds of fried food. The place was filled with families. We all had the prime rib, special of the day. We were not impressed. I can say it filled...us up. I tried The bbq sauce it was great. Now wishing to have tried the actual BBQ here.More

We stopped in on a Friday night on our way out of state. The staff is friendly and provides good service although the meal was a little slow getting to our table. The smoked meat is ok - the “burnt ends” were pretty dry but...had good flavor. The ribs had good “tooth” feel and were tasty. The sweet potato fries were very good. About right for the price.More

We were traveling through and needed a good, quick meal, so read reviews for several places in Emporia. Bobby D's was the clear winner. Parking was easy and near the door. The service was quick and helpful in making choices. The food was as good...as the reviews promised. We'll be back!More
