Due to our late arrival in Dodge City, we were unable to visit the Boot Hill Museum. Instead, we tried to find somewhere themed-based to eat dinner at. Central Station was as close as we could find. Nice atmosphere, but a bit run down. The bathrooms were decently clean, but definitely in need of a face lift. The food was just adequate, but it was reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, but service was slow. My husband got a steak, cooked well rather than the requested medium-well. I had ordered ribs, but was told 15 minutes later that they were out, so ended up getting a taco salad. I like sour cream on my taco salads and was given just a tiny thimble-sized portion cup on the side. By the time our waiter came to ask us how everything was, I was almost finished. I had about a quarter remaining, though, so I still asked for more sour cream; a much larger portion was delivered when I only had a few bites left. On a positive note, our waiter was very nice.

The wife and I had dinner here due to all the positive remarks on TA. The atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly. The dining area seemed clean and staff were wearing face masks. I ordered chicken fried steak and was somewhat disappointed. It wasn't bad, just not the best cfs I've ever had. The salad was a sad excuse. The twice baked potatoes (I think they called them railroad tracks) were very good, as was the bread and butter. The wife enjoyed her steak and said it was very tender and tasty.

The waiter did say he had only been there a week, so when we asked questions about the menu and he had to ask someone, it was fine. No worries. But when you’re waiting....and waiting....and WAITING for him to take your order and you can see him just hanging out with the other staff and talking and laughing, it’s not ok. We had to wait forever to get our order taken, we had to ask for drink refills, we waited and waited for our ticket, and instead of taking it right away because my husband had the card OUT, we had to wait some more for him to finally come back and take our payment. That being said, we each had a steak and it was delicious. It comes with a lackluster side salad, but it also comes with your choice of potato and another vegetable. We both had the broccoli and it was very good. The food is great, but the service needs a lot of work.

In town for a road trip from Wichita and generally we liked the place. Good service. BUT DON'T ORDER WINE. Their wine is rot gut nasty. We both drink fairly inexpensive box wine at the higher quality level (i.e. Black Box) and we usually spend about $10 - $15 per bottle for bottled wine, so we are not wine snobs at all. My wife ordered their only Cab Sauvignon and it was super nasty. Tart and tasted like vinegar. Yuck. Our server graciously took the "one sip" glass back and replaced it at no extra charge for a scotch and water, although it was a bit watered down, but much better than the wine. We both ordered the 12 oz. Ribeye with sides. My only complaint is that the steak, as is the case in most high volume restaurants tend to be thinner than genuine steak houses, so they can be grilled faster to keep ticket times down, so I understand that, having been in the steak business myself. What I will say about their ribeye is that is was cooked a bit past medium, but when cut into, was acceptable and the flavors were really good. HOWEVER, both ribeyes were tough and chewy, in spite of them not being "overcooked", which points to quality of the cut. As a former restaurant owner, I have cooked thousands of ribeyes and no matter how thick or thin they are, with all of the marbling, they are always tender, if cooked anywhere from medium to medium rare, to rare. A good cut of ribeye should always be tender to the bite, if it is not cooked beyond medium. Central Station needs to "up" their game on the quality of ribeye they are buying and grilling. After all, you are in cattle country. I do give them high marks for overall experience and service, but I can't approve of a $29 ribeye that is a tough cut of meat to begin with.

While we were seeing the sights in Dodge City, we stopped by Central Station Bar and Grill for some libations and refueling. CS is an upscale place in an old railroad house on Easy Wyatt Earp Blvd in this historical town. The burgers & service was good and the beers were cold in a comfortable atmosphere.

For what this place is, it’s great. I had the hand breaded catfish sandwich. The catfish fillet was cooked perfectly, with the crisp cornmeal crust not at all greasy. Served on a soft bun with lettuce tomato and a side of good tartar sauce. Prices are reasonable.

Ribeye steak was quite thin and a little dry. The catfish dinner was decent for the price but the breading was very salty. Large dining room not much ambiance. Got out the door for $50 plus tip

The restaurant sits in a restored train depot. Behind the bar is the loading platform with mock, but authentic-looking passenger cars. The bar is noisy. My catfish was tasty but the broccoli overcooked and mushy. The water had a faint taste of creosote. Have something else to drink. There is an extensive steak menu with each costing $30.

Our dinner was disappointing. We are visiting Dodge City and this looked like a great place for an evening meal. A place where you could get a great dinner salad. Unfortunately our expectations weren't met. The shrimp salad was described as a bed of fresh spring greens. In reality, it was a bed of iceberg lettuce with a few spring greens sprinkled on top. I asked for no cucumbers, but still got them. The raspberry vinaigrette was syrupy sweet. I will say the grilled shrimp was good. My husband had the southwest chicken salad. He felt the best thing about it was the blue cheese dressing. Lots of ice berg lettuce and very little chicken. Both salads were served on plates rather than bowls. When trying to mix dressing with salad, much slid off the plate and on to the table. Our waitress was very nice. She informed me she had made the manager aware of our concerns. However, the manager did not care enough to visit our table. It took forever for the food to get to the table. They seem to be understaffed. Our lasting impression was it is over priced for the quality served.

The hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant because she said it’s food and has a variety of options. My friends had the sirloin and I had sirloin on my salad. It was cooked exactly to our order and was seasoned beautifully. There are three separate dining areas: an old train dining car, a quiet, more private dining area and the general bar area. We had great service and I’d highly recommend Central Station Bar and Grill.

The French Dip Sandwich was positively mediocre. The Southwest Chicken Salad was pretty tasty, although the ranch salad dressing we had was the thinnest ever. Our server was very nice, although it was sometimes hard to understand what he was saying, as his words mumbled together.

We were on a 5-6 day road trip from Denver. WE ate at Central Station based on the news from several locals we encountered. We were there on a week night. We were seated right away and our server came within three minutes. Limited selection of wine. More of a diner style menu and restaurant. This place fits the local color. The food was good. Three courses for the price.

On entering we were asked if we had a seating preference and as we didn’t know the place, said we didn’t, as long as we sat together. Maybe the guy didn’t like our sense of humour so he took us down a very long corridor past loads of free tables, all the way to ‘Siberia’ with 2 other people, presumably also tourists who wouldn’t be back. However, the food was brilliant. A half smoked rack of ribs was vast, tasty and fell off the bone. Who can eat a whole one of these? Southwest chicken salad was also just what was needed with no taste of chlorine in the chicken! Had beer and a terrible margarita served in a beer glass, so weak think the barman forgot the tequila. No chance to say anything nor order desserts as we never saw our waiter again and had to go to the bar to pay. A restaurant is about so much more than the food and this restaurant failed on everything except that.

Amazing food, terrible service. Our family waited for over an hour for food while staff sat with other guests and drank beer. The wait staff was completely frazzled and stressed staring they were too busy, which caused the wait. The highlight was the food tasted great!!

Got a recommendation from our Comfort Inn hotel about this place for dinner. Seeing all the stockyards coming into town got me thinking about a nice locally processed steak. Wasn't disappointed at all. My 12 oz ribeye certainly could've been thicker but it was cooked to my request of med rare just fine. Sides of onion rings and refried beans were a great couterment.
