Firstly we were ushered straight to our table we were early enough to have had a drink in the bar. Got the the table not given a drinks menu the waitress literally said what do you want to drink no introduction no hello or good evening- very young waitress obviously limited training if any. So I asked for diet coke and fair enough she said they only had Pepsi max I asked what other soft drinks they did she answered lemonade water I noted a chap had orange and lemonade so I had that which worked out really expensive. Food was delicious well done chef and the restaurant is lovely but very cold we were all cold. Other people mentioned it as well. Asked for a garden salad as an extra and got a small dish with rocket and onion in not impressed by the £5 charge on the the menu there was a rocket salad but everyone had that as a garnish already Overall food good place lovely but very cold wear a jumper waiting staff need more training and you need a wider selection of soft drinks or tell the staff to bring a menu as we were all driving. , and an introduction like hello or hope you’ve had a lovely evening bye would of been nice .

first time coming here, we went as a family last week, instantly greeted by a lovely waitress (we can’t remember her name but she had a bow in her hair if that helps?). Was instantly seated and asked about allergies etc. However there was a leak from the ceiling onto our table that the waitress noticed and went to her manager about (we didn’t even notice it didn’t affect us) and we were offered a new table. We declined it as stated earlier it didn’t affect us. The waitress was absolutely lovely and really really funny, saying how if we moved we wouldn’t be in her section and my wife said she’d fight the manager and a strong word to have this waitress if we were to move, as she was just so lovely. She understood my daughter was autistic and went into detail about what options there was and customisations the kitchen could make. Honestly amazing service. After this we were then forced by an older member of staff to move to another table where this staff member would be our server instead. She took too long to send us to the carvery even when it was empty and we just wanted our original waitress back. The food was absolutely devine and we felt it was good value for money, we will definitely definitely be coming back especially if we get our original waitress next time.

Best Sunday lunch in the country, oh myyy this place has it right. My hubby, son and I had Sunday lunch. A choice of 3 meats and home cooked food that tastes better than my home cooking and I’m a foodie. Beautiful roast potatoes, the creamy butter mash, a choice of carrots in herbs, cabbage, peas stuffing and the most delicious red cabbage spiced perfectly. The Yorkshire pudding real cooked, not frozen and beautifully cooked gravy. Absolutely fantastic food and great service. The whole atmosphere is so welcoming and the food the best I’ve had. The owners have it right here. Make sure you book peeps and enjoy its delicious real home cooking to the highest standard. Can’t wait to return. Thank you.

Food was excellent although a little on the expensive side. Sadly the dining vexperience was let down by very poor serving staff. Waitresses were generally teenage girls with very little training or experience. Serving food across other people, not knowing which steak was which when brought to the table, at £50 each for two CB you expect more. Sadly disappointing, good chefs but let down by front of house. Need to up there game if they want to survive in a competitive market.

Very average and definitely had better carvery/ roast dinners from restaurants close by. Smoke from the fire dominated the restaurant, we all had to shower when we got home and all clothes had to be washed. Little ones eyes watering. Ordered drinks 3 times before they were delivered correctly. We were very much looking forward to the food as was a birthday celebration however the beef was chewy and the turkey had blood spots. Service was ok however not sure that all the staff getting their dinners and eating potatoes and crackling behind the carvery counter was appropriate for the price tag. Won’t be returning again in the near future as sadly so many better options literally up the road.

Came here with high expectations and the initial ambience and welcome were good. Staff seemed friendly and helpful too, but the food was not really great. I had soup which tasted good but was lukewarm. My wife and a friend had prawns in sauce on lettuce leaf which was supposed to come with a vol-au- vent but this was missing. These complaints were told to the waiter who said ‘I’ll tell the chef’, he never came back. The pork portions were small and I had to pester for crackling, when it eventually came in a huge pile it was hard and inedible. It’s the chefs fault clearly in letting food like this leave the kitchen, as is not a cheap place. Pity.

I’d heard great things about this restaurant, but it was decidedly average. The room was loud and the wait staff were very inattentive and offhand. It felt like we were being served in a canteen as they dropped the plates and said “Here you go!” The menu is not remarkable and considering the focus on locally sourced ingredients, there was nothing on this menu that shouted ‘local’. We won’t be back.

The wife and I had planned to have a nice night out so we decided to go out for a nice meal. She suggested we go to another pub very local to the grey goose but I suggested we push the boat out and go to the grey goose. We both have had a great time there before having a Sunday dinner so I expected the food to be of very good quality. We both had steaks one a 8oz fillet ordered medium and I had a sirloin medium rare. The wife's came virtually roar not rare and mine was rare not medium rare but me being hungry ate mine. The wife explained to the young lad it wasn't cooked to her liking and he offered her a desert on the house. She declined saying the steak had put her off. When we got the bill there was 5 or 6 other drinks on there which were not ours so i asked to speak to whoever was in charge. She did query the steak with the chef and offered us 50 percent off the fillet steak 16 pounds. Also correcting are drinks bill. It was a shame as the pub is a great place but lacking in front of house experience. As there's alot of young inexperienced waiters and waitresses.

Visited for my wife's birthday, I asked for a table in the bar area as it was a birthday instead we were shown a table which may as well been in another village and to add it was 30 mins late for seating! Carvery - no roast potatoes, condiments empty, cauliflower cheese would've been nice with cauliflower rather than the storks, thinnest slices of meat and the carver was exceptionally rude. We had to ask for our drinks twice as they forgot! Then as we'd finished and was thinking about a dessert, we couldn't order one as they needed the table for the next guests.......the cheek!!

Visited here yesterday, it was a birthday treat from my friend. Food was good, no complaints there but that is the only good thing I have to say about my our visit. The staff were young with little or no experience on waiting on tables. People arriving after us were asked for their orders before us. No interaction from the waiting staff whatsoever, not asked about allergies and didn't even offer to top our glasses up when they did come to the table. My friend disappeared to pay the bill and pointed out to them that the bill was cheap for what we'd had. Upon checking, they realised that they hadn't included the bottle of champagne which we'd had, this was added to the bill and the bill was paid. After our meal we went into the bar area and ordered another couple of drinks, these were bought to the table, followed shortly by someone who said that she was the manager. She said that there was another drink which they had forgotten to add to the bill and said that unless we paid for it there and then, as she stood with the card machine in her hands, that they would refuse to serve us more drinks! This she said in front of other diners and embarrassment was an understatement! There was absolutely no tact about her and certainly not management material! When she left our table other diners spoke to us about how she had dealt with the situation, they weren't impressed either and when I looked to the bar it was obvious that she had told the whole of the bar staff of the situation as they all stood there glaring at us! Never again Grey Goose..... Absolutely shocking behaviour from your manager!

Hi Susan Firstly Thankyou for taking your time to give us your feedback, I don’t normally respond to reviews as it is personal preference however on this occasion, I think the story is a little fabricated. Apologies if the level of service you received was not to the standard of what the grey goose usual is, we do have a lot of younger staff at the moment that are still training we will ensure this is discussed at our next meeting. In response to not being served another drink, was because you refused to pay for the bottle of Prosecco you drank when you first arrived. I am more than happy to speak with you over the phone or in person. Kind Regards Tillie

We went here for our date night, right from the start it was not good. I asked could I have a disaranno sour which they said yes to but didn’t look keen and then proceeded to stand and talk so I went and asked for a different drink which I was given straight away. My main pan fried chicken with blue cheese risotto, firstly they forgot my chicken so I had to send it back and then OMG the risotto tasted like pure salt even my partner who likes salt could not eat it. When they came to take our plates away the lady asked was everything alright as I had only ate the chicken and I told her the risotto was incredibly salty. The lady came back to us and she was very apologetic and said they had tasted it and they had put far too much blue cheese in they gave us our desserts as complimentary and then when we came to pay the bill the waitress said “if you want to leave a tip here your options” and showed us on the screen. I’ve never had any establishment say this. Overall I have to say it was probably the worst food I’ve had in a long time and the experience was not that pleasant either. I definitely will not be returning.

I’m not quite sure where to begin, I could use so many superlatives! My partner and I, visited The Grey Goose last night (2nd). Either having a pre-meal drink or once sat at your table, the surroundings are contemporary, clean and bright. There’s an extensive menu, our meals, when served were piping hot and so pleasing on the eye. The food was stunningly good! The chefs, clearly, have the most wonderful attention to detail and take a pride in the meals that leave their kitchen. We shouldn’t forget the waiting staff, attentive (but not overly so) very professional and communicative. 10 out of 10 to everyone involved. We will definitely be returning!

First time visit after being highly recommended . Sunday lunch with two friends. The food was beautiful no complaints. Sunday carvery is delicious. But the service from the onset was not the best . The place was so busy I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good . We waited for a table to be cleared , then when we sat down , we were given a menu each no explanation about how to order food …. I went and asked eventually . The staff were so busy . We left after our carvery , no pudding or coffees . It was so loud in there , couldn’t hear each other talk . Not a good experience. The food is very good .

We met up with family here for some lunch which we had booked a table. The place was very busy, the car park in an ok size and just managed to get a parking space. We were taken to a table straight away. We ordered drinks which didn't take too long to arrive, however we were then ignored for over 30 minutes before we got someones attention so we could order food. We all had the carvery which this was really nice, some people got more meat than others it seemed with some of the people in front of us and other saw afterwards. The food was really good. Overall the staff were relatively friendly, service wasn't the best with staff standing around looking at people but not being overly attentive. The car park doesn't have any lighting so when it gets dark it can be difficult to see. The food is good. The decor is good. Overall this is a nice place to visit

Right, i come from a catering background and WAS got my Hotel and Catering diploma back in the day, years of experience all over back and front of house so lets get that straight. So the taste of the dishes are far above and beyond expectation, i mean really exquisite and therefore value for money. Now comes the tricky part. If you don't serve food on hot plates, the food gets cool very quickly. Also i think the food is not served hot enough to begin with OR there is a long waiting time between the time the food is cooked to delivery. I have NEVER experienced this basic error in any other fine dining restaurant. The vegetables while cooked nicely were old beans as the edges were brown slightly. So chop the edges off before serving them! The simple task of clearing glasses that are obviously finished especially on a table of 2 would add to the quality of care. The wonky table i would expect in a pub, not fine dining. The manager leaning all over the bar chairs, i learnt that as a first impression in front of house not to lean over the bar at any point. Looking to serve customers or see to anyone that need serving instead of avoiding the customers gaze on many occasions. Finally one of our meals turned up stone cold making us eat separately. This didn't spoil our experience and we got £5 off the bill as a goodwill refund. However all the other basic errors lead us to the conclusion that while the food tastes delicious and decadent, the atmosphere, lack of care, unprofessionalism of the manager leaning on the bar stools cannot entice us back. I felt really mean writing this but sometimes honesty is the best policy to be fair to the customers who are spending their hard earned cash AND as a way to let the owners know where if they decided to address these basic errors could earn 1 or 2 michelin stars. Frustrating!
