Stopped for lunch on a Saturday. First time there, I had a BLT and Onion Rings. SO had a Pork Tenderloin sandwich with Potato Wedges. Best BLT in a long time. Ratio of ingredients to bread was perfect. Onion Rings very good, and not greasy....Very thick pork tenderloin was delicious, and appeared to be made in-house. Potato wedges nicely cooked all the way through. Derrick regular came often and without even asking. Definitely will eat here again when in the area.More

We stopped on a long road trip to order some foods to go and so happy we found this gem. Great kind funny staff and patrons kept us laughing and talking while we had a beer and waited for our food. We ordered to 8...piece chicken to go and it was melt in your mouth good!More

We stopped here on our way to Colorado for vacation, tired of the fast food scene. What a nice little gem, close to interstate, yet feels like an old timey diner.

This dining experience was the worst I've had in many years. My family of 10 was traveling home from Colorado and stayed the night in Walnut. We tried Emma Jean's for dinner. They were not overly busy, just under half the tables in the dining...room were full. Our waitress at the beginning was quite attentive, and took our food and drink orders quickly. it all goes downhill from here. Four of us had the Saturday night buffet, 6 of us ordered off the menu, including my daughter who is a celiac and needs gluten free. We four who had buffet meals got our food right away, although there was a 5 minute wait for more chicken and some of the hot food was only lukewarm. Of the six meals ordered off the menu, two were pizzas. Five of those meals came after the buffet eaters were done (about 20 minutes after ordering) and the last pizza came to our table 15 minutes after that. My grandson got his pizza after EVERYONE at the table was done eating. Our waitress offered no explanation or apologies. She finally came around to refill drinks once my grandson was done eating! We said no thanks, just the bill. We got no compensation for the late (I think it was forgotten) pizza. I left only a 10% tip on a $150 tab, only because my family was with me. Had I been there myself, I would have left nothing. Add to this a bad experience at a local hotel (there are only 2) and I felt like I was living in an episode of the Twilight Zone. We managed to escape the next morning intact!More

Stopped for an early supper. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and inexpensive. A little skimpy on the chicken. The noodles were made on site. I skipped the offer of canned green beans (please, fresh or frozen) and opted for a small salad.

Stopped on the way thru for food, both times it was great. Surf and turf a done exactly to my preference. The pizza is great!

Clean place, friendly staff. Good food that was reasonably priced. We both had the catfish dinners, and they were nice-sized pieces of fish, not just "nuggets" which many places serve. We got desserts to go, and although homemade, the cobbler and a chocolate cake were...disappointing.More

Walnut has few options for eating. I was staying at the super 8 next door. I asked someone about where to eat and they recommended Emma jeans. It looked like a truck stop dive and I wasn’t sure about going in. Was I surprised!!! It...was very nice and clean. The staff was very nice and it was full of families enjoying a meal!! Food was excellent!!!More

We've stopped at Emma Jean's twice, once last summer and again a few days ago. Both visits were delightful. The food was fantastic and the server (I think maybe one of the owners) is a delight. It's just a few yards from the I-80 exit...at Walnut. I'll be sure and time my trips to be there at lunch or dinner time. It's first rate.More

Comfort food made right. We stopped on our way thru to Nebraska for dinner, my husband had the Philly steak sandwich with fries and I stayed on the lighter side with a grilled chicken salad.y husband raved that someone finally fixed the Philly steak sandwich...the way it should be! It came hot and fresh. I had the grilled chicken salad and was expecting a few more veggies instead of just lettuce and some small tomatoes chopped fine. It was topped with cheddar cheese. So for $9.75 it was a little disappointing. The service was fast but it took longer then we liked since there was only few others there at the small time. I noticed a sign on the back register that they had a Cuban sandwich and had wished I had tried that so we stopped back for lunch on our way back and I tried the cuban sandwich and my husband had the vegetable beef soup. Once again the service was fast with the water and menu's but the food prep took almost 45 mins. This time both were disappointing, the vegetable beef soup was just chilli with veggies and the cuban was lacking the cuban flavor. The facilities were clean and ample for young and old and close to I80 east or west.More
