We happened in to this restaurant on an evening when they offered an all-you-can-eat Buffet Dinner. The food was better than most buffet restaurants. All food was hot. The options on the buffet was fresh and good quality. Offered a bit of leafy green lettuce in addition to the iceburg lettuce (no idea who eats iceburg lettuce any longer). I... More

if you want to enjoy one of the best Norwegian dishes around, go to the Royal Cafe. Serving every Wednesday. One of the best places around to get this treat.

Didn't get around to eating. We had waited such a long time without even being asked what we wanted to drink that we left and went to McDonald's.

Now called Family Restaurant. Located near interstate interchange. Young man server was inexperienced with good attitude, trying hard. Hot plate Special was a very good deal

We had a All day brunch burger and it was so filling and very good. The burger has an egg and bacon.

Right off the highway, this was a convenient spot to eat. Home cookin was advertised. We had the buffet, which had a nice salad spread. Otherwise hamburgers and a chicken noodle dish were very simple. For only ~$8/plate it was a decent deal. After sitting at our table we guessed we raised the average age of the diners by at... More

I'm not a picky customer, I've only returned food in a restaurant maybe 5 times in 35 years, but two of those were in this diner. Both times the replacement was still inedible and I ended up giving up and not eating at all. Neither time did they offer to comp my obviously uneaten meal. I had thought maybe I... More

We stopped for lunch on Sunday because The Cafe in Ames had a 50 min wait. We were pleased with our ample servings and homemade pies. If you are tired of the chain places its a nice change.

but most things were not your mother's home cookin'. 1. Difficult to find - please update web page as we sat at old location waiting for everyone to show up 'til finally noticing they'd relocated. 2. Signage very small on what had been the Happy Chef location near I-35. 3. Fried food smell overwhelming upon entering. 4. Service slow -... More

Worst pork tenderloin ever. It was very small and over cooked. Fries where soggy. I would recommend Mc Donald's across the street over this.
