This is the best bang for the buck in Newton! My son, daughter, and I went there today for the umpteenth time. We have never been dissatisfied with the food. There is quite a variety of Chinese dishes. Examples are crab rangoon, egg rolls, lobster, sweet and sour chicken, pepper chicken. There are desserts such as ice cream, tapioca pudding,... More

Very good buffet with a large variety of choices. Very clean and reasonable priced. Also walking distance from our hotel. Great value for the price.

waited 5 minutes to be seated - there was just no one there to greet&meet, or at the register. many choices of chicken (different versions of deep fried nuggets), 0 choices of vegetable or fish dishes :( no green beans, or pot stickers, or shrimp. 1 kind of noodles. got burnt on a crab rangoon. very limited salad bar selection,... I love the food, the servers are always friendly, and nobody does peanut butter chicken like Panda Garden. Regarding Lisa Lewis getting intestinal problems each time she eats buffet (not just Panda Garden, she said EVERY buffet), perhaps it is her stomach and not the food. Secondly, child labor laws? Really? The Pizza Ranch in Newton used to have their... More

The Panda Garden is clean in appearance, spacious, nicely decorated, and has friendly staff. I loved this place and used to eat here regularly 5 years ago with no problems. Sadly, I've eaten there twice in the last year and managed to get food poisoning on both occasions. Most notably on our last trip there July 26, my fiance and... More

The panda garden is great, for small town. For an awesome experience head to Des Moines or a bigger city. For the same cost you can get better selection and more food. Everyone mostly raves about the Crab Rangoon, which are really good here!

I was in town to visit a friend, and she choose this place. I wanted to order off the menu because there were no vegetarian entrees on the buffet. I was told that despite being handed a menu when we came in that "nobody does that". They did then put a stir fried veggie dish out on the buffet. All... More

I have had the unfortunate experience that after restaurants have been open for many years, they often start to go downhill. I feel this Panda Garden still has good food, decent prices, and the place is always clean. It has better choices, and fresher food than the Chinese in Grinnell, I will say that for certain. I make a special... More

I'm guessing on the month that I was last there. This is not one of my favorite restaurants. May be this is the type of place that depends on when you stop in. I have been there twice and I think twice is enough. For most of my readers, they know I do not like dry food. Most of the... More

We like to go to the Panda Garden because we can choose exactly how much we want to eat. It's also convenient when we want to see a movie next door. You can order from the menu if you want to, but why bother? Everything's on the buffet, and in huge quantities. Start with a plate of rice. Cover it... More
