Stopped in on a Friday evening after walking around the main street. The restaurant is one block off the main street just up the hill. They sat us down at a nice table. A two piece band was setting up. Once they started the music...was too loud for us. The two waiters immediately moved us to a table in the back, by the bar. It was perfect. Bot waiters took care of us, and all the other tables all night. They were both great. My wife ordered the chicken salad on a croissant. It was served with a very rich mushroom risotto. I ordered the meatloaf. It was delicious with a great gravy and excellent glazed carrots.More

Amazing food. Impeccable service. The atmosphere of the old river boat captins home provides for a great dining experience. Easy walking distance from the main street in LeClaire.

A unique little restaurant that had good food reasonably priced. We went with a large group, and it took a while to get food and beverages but was worth the wait. I would recommend making a reservation.

We went here after hearing great reviews from family and friends. The atmosphere was good, an old river house. The staff were friendly. The server was very knowledgeable and took care of us well. However, the food was below average. One had a Ceasars Salad...with grilled chicken, no complaints. One had the chicken salad sandwich, no complaints. One had the lobster Mac and cheese and rated it 3 out of 5 stars. One had the salmon, and it was overcooked, and the mashed potatoes were cold. One had the brisket and rated it 1 out of 5. This is probably due to the fact didn't appear to be wood smoked and it was served with gravy and not BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes were also cold. Then we saw that on Sundays they have a drag queen brunch, so be aware that happens on Sunday for brunch. I won't return.More

Excellent place! We stopped here for lunch. The food (soup, sandwiches, s’mores cake) were all terrific. Service was great, and we enjoyed a beautiful view of the river. Looking forward to our next visit!

Took my friend for her birthday. Food fair. Acoustics very loud. We could barely hear each other speak. It would help if they played softer, peaceful music. If you go, don’t sit in back room with river view. It is also the path to kitchen...and there are staff whizzing buy pretty regularly. When they walk past, the floor shakes. It is also across from bar and drink station which is only 4-5 feet away. Not my idea of a pleasant setting. I wish it had turned out better.More

We can’t say enough good things about Mandy and her team at Pelican & Crane. We catered our wedding of 150 guests and opted for a buffet-style meal (including salad, Cajun Chicken Pasta, Meatloaf Sliders, Smashed Potatoes, and Green Beans). First, the food was spectacular!...Everything was fresh, full of flavor, and we’ll prepared. We received many compliments from our guests on the food. Second, Mandy’s input was spot on to make sure our meal was a success. Third, her team went above and beyond at the event itself. They were very attentive to ensure everything was clean and the guests were happy. We would use them 100x over and 10/10 recommend.More

We stopped for lunch on a friends weekend. We had the 1/2 sandwich with a cup of soup. Two of us had salmon, one had chicken salad. We all had the lobster bisque. It was fantastic! We all enjoyed a glass of wine from their...extensive menu as well. Atmosphere is very inviting and the service was excellent.More

We stopped here again for dinner on Friday, July 8, 2022. This was a our 2nd visit, last year we discovered this place when driving a different route back to Minnesota from the east coast. This year, took the same route again, fortunately arrived in...Le Claire just around dinner time. We arrived at 5:30 PM, it was early enough to immediately get a table as all except 2 tables were reserved. Almost all tables were filled by 6PM as there was a live jazz band playing. I ordered a glass of Bordeaux, my wife a glass of Sangria. My wife had the Gyro with Lobster Bisque Soup. I had the Meatloaf Sandwich with Southwestern Chicken Soup. My wife thought the bisque was superb and the gyro delicious. My meatloaf sandwich was huge with arugula and Jeana's tomato jam all on a brioche bun. It was soooo good, but I had a difficult time finishing the meatloaf, it was so big. Prices here are reasonable and you may order a big meal or stick to appetizers or sandwich. all available at dinner. The free live music (donations accepted, I gave $5) was great and set the atmosphere for a wonderful time. Our server was only identified by #18 on our bill, so I don't know her name, but we were served well. We love this old ship captains house with it's wonderful fixtures. This is our favorite restaurant away from home.More

We wanted to conclude our stay in Le Claire with a "special" dinner. The Crane & Pelican did not let us down! In our party of six, we had a vegan as well as a gluten-free diner, along with a super-picky mother. :) Every single...one of us raved about our exceptional meals. To top it off, we were treated ourselves to the heavenly lavender-lemon cake and homemade ice cream. Finally, the service was wonderful and the view can't be beat. YUMMMMMYYYYYYY!!!More

My cousin and I each got pick 2, 1/2 sandwich and garlic salads. I got the asparagus sandwich and she got meatloaf sandwich. Both were delicious, asparagus was unique and meatloaf light and moist. Left room for the lemon lavender cake. Definitely a great find...and would highly recommend.More

Chosen because of the location in an 1851 river pilot’s home, this restaurant has suburb food, complete with a river-front view and Lavendar Cake for dessert.
