Reviewed yesterday NEW

Haven't been here for awhile and found it rather shabby, with sticky table and carpet.Still had the old glass cabinet with desserts ,very 1970's.Main courses were very good but poor presentation.Dessert was dreadful, lemon meringue pie which had soggy chewy meringue and disgusting filling, could buy much better from supermarket.Bill was also wrong so gladI checked it.Definitely needs to improve.

the game terrine was not good, very stodgy and mostly stuffing, the roast was ok and and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice setting for a country pub, with horses and nice cover of trees..

Situated at the edge of the New Forest. Reasonable selection of beer and wine. Friendly staff and good service. First rate food. Pleasant garden if weather is fine.

Arranged to meet a friend here. Arrived early but whilst waiting, found the atmosphere very warm and welcoming. The food was brilliant and very good value. The staff were brilliant and look forward to returning when next back in the area, which hopefully will be next year.

Not having visited for two years, we were pleasantly surprised to find that, not only was the food as good as always, but the layout inside has changed, giving a more spacious and relaxed feeling. Instead of queuing at the bar, there is now waitress service - a great improvement. Definitely recommended.

We were driving through the new forest looking to stop for a bite to eat and came upon the Green Dragon. This is an old pub/restaurant establishment. The atmosphere in the pub was very good and the staff and food excellent.Much on the menu is home cooked and I would recommend the steak and kidney pie great. The pub has... More

Having gone for a nice long walk with our Grandaughter and dog, we were looking for somewhere to eat and came across The Green Dragon. We were met by friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent value for money. A good childrens' menu was available. We did not have to wait long to be served... More

Having visited on previous occasions we decided on a return visit with friends but were somewhat disappointed to find that having sent an email to book the table for 6, and had it confirmed by "Gail", on arrival no such booking existed ! It was therefore a relief to find that they were not too busy and a table was... More

Description
The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago.

Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn.

The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land.

To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer.

Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites.

We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.
