Went the day after the Iowa game. Ok, this place is less about the food and more about the atmosphere and history. If you haven't been there, then go. You'll enjoy it. We get the basic old breakfast or a Zadar omelette. Portions are great, and people are fun to chat with. And they don't charge a different price based... More

Hamburg Inn #2 , better known as the Burg is a great place to eat. small , cozy, crowded at times. known by students and residents alike. it has been around since the 50's. It has hosted presidents, and Candidates for president. The only place you can vote with a coffee bean. What makes the Burg great is the food.... More

I took my team here for breakfast as I was feeling nostalgic from my days at the University of Iowa. Great breakfast with huge portions at a very reasonable price. Service was very prompt. We got there at 8:30 and were seated right away, but it was getting busy around 9:15 or so.

Had cinnamon bun French toast with home fries and a pie shake. For me, the pie shake was the highlight of meal. The toast was a bit dry. Did not feel it lived up to the hype but would return and try something else with another pie shake in a heartbeat. The pie shake was worth every dime although added... More

From other reviewers, I thought it might be really busy even on a Sun night, but it was just right. We both ordered breakfast-French toast was really good. Prices were reasonable, service was fine. We enjoyed the newspaper photos/articles lining the walls about the history of the place and the famous people who have eaten there.

We came here for breakfast after 11 AM on a Thursday. Some places stop serving breakfast at this time (Bluebird Diner I'm looking at you). Hamburg Inn saved the day. I had a Farmer's Omelette which was both delicious and HUGE. A side of pancakes was included. I guarantee you won't leave hungry. I will be back as I haven't... More
